Just curious, what Xbox games are people playing where they use the built-in 4-player capability? Anything other than sports titles? I've never really seen this as much of a selling point, though admittedly, 4-player Goldeneye on the N64 was great. :) I've played a couple 8-player PS2 games, they were quite fun as well.

Four player games:
Halo--this is a blast with four people. I've spent countless hours playing this with friends.
Rallysport Challenge
ATV Quad Power Racing
Brute Force
Hunter the Reckoning
Moto GP
Unreal Championship

These are just the games I own. The point I was trying to make is that it's included without extra cost. It's an option that the PS2 doesn't have, unless you spend more money.

Why is PS2 vs Xbox even debated anymore? The answer should be clear.

The Xbox is more powerful. When they are both the same price, why would you buy the older, weaker system? The only thing the PS2 has on the Xbox are the amount of games out. But lets be honest, how many of those are great games worth playing exclusive to the PS2?

And the GTA series does not warrant a PS2 purchase. Nor Grand Tourismo.

Xbox has everything you need right out of the box: hard drive, 4 player capability, broadband adapter.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you have to pay extra for those on the PS2. So really the PS2 costs more than the Xbox.

The answer is clear - I play my games on the most powerful system too - my PC.

Most of the games on the X-Box can be had on the PC. But with the PS2 (the so-called "inferior" system) I can play stuff like Rez, Ico, Gulty Gear XX, Silpheed, Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution, Final Fantasy X, Guitaroo-Man, Dark Cloud 2 and all the good stuff that are from Japan and NOT available on my PC.

And since I have zilch interest in FPS, On-line games or Sports games, to me having an X-Box is like having a huge deadweight lying around with no practical purpose.

I, for one, am very much looking forward to:

Far East of Eden II Manjimaru
Far East of Eden III Namida
Gradius V
R-Type Final
Silent Hill 3
Fatal Frame 2
Star Ocean III
Drakengard
Y's I & II Eternal Story
Final Fantasy X-2
Sega Ages 1: Phantasy Star
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Of course, I have one big benefit - I live in Asia, so I can get regionless PS2! ;)

I bought my Playstation shortly after Tekken3 was released. All the other games on PSX were a bonus. I bought my PS2 for Tekken Tag Tournament. All the other games on PS2 were a bonus. I bought my Xbox for Dead or Alive 3. All the other games on Xbox were a bonus. For me, it was all about the fighting games.

You can't get fighting games on a PC.

It's debatable because everyone has different tastes.

On the PS2 I get as exclusives: GT3, the Final Fantasy main series, Jak and Daxter, Rachet and Clank, Ico, the Tekken series, Virtua Fighter and so on. These appeal to me much more than the X-box's line-up, of which so far only Halo and Panzer Dragoon are games I'd really, really like to have. For others the game lineups might be reverse with the X-box having more appealing exclusives for them.

The X-box is better hardware, but not everyone is hung up on that. To me graphics and sound are the icing on the cake with the games/gameplay being the cake. Some people need the hot graphics to enjoy a game, some don't. Different strokes for different floks.

The HD is a nice feature, simply for saving sports games as those hog memory card space. But all the other features (online gaming, music juke box, etc) I personally have no use for/no interest in.

So don't be presumptious that it's not worthy of debating. All three systems and PC's have their own strenghts and weaknesses and as such will appeal to different people.

I can't wait for the remake of both games! I remember beating Tengai 2 on the PC Engine CD....man that brings back memories...

Grimfarrow 06-07-03 03:28 PM

Gosh, I remembered my jaw dropping when I first saw Tengai Makyo II. It was the first time that I saw cinematics in a game that was SO close to cartoons! Ever since then, I bought a PC Engine Duo and tried my hands at all kinds of stuff, including Emerald Dragon, Snatcher, Tengai Makyo: Kabukiden, Y's IV, Angel's Poem II (Tenchi no Uta II), and a whole bunch of others. I REALLY loved my Duo. That's why the Tengai remake is so exciting, though I'm saddened that they're not remaking Ziria, because Red said they lost the original code and materials. :(

Don't forget Valis! I loved that series too... great story, great characters, great side scrolling action! :)
