Awesome!

Best Buy has GTA 3 for $19.99 this week, so I knew I'd be getting it.

This'll make it even better!

Thanks!

hey guys, I have a question, I have never played computer games before, but I am purchasing a new computer soon, how do I use this mod with GTA3.

Me too. The timing couldn't be better.

Please fill us in on how good the mod is. I already own GTA3 for the PS2 but if this good I might pick up the PC version.

It's very good.

Of course, I backed up my GTA3 directory before I installed this mod.

Instructions:

* download the mod zip file
* unzip the file
* read the readme file (which has very important instructions on 2 files to remove)
* do everything the readme file says, which is around 3 steps.

Does the mod affect the music at all? This is for GT3, not Vice City right? Thanks in advance.

No. Yes. No problem.

Thanks - it's excellent. I'm happy. My roommate is a big Passat fan and he is always disappointed when they don't have a Passat in whatever game he's playing. They never do either... he saw this and just about dumped in his pants - GTA3 was his favorite PS2 game of all time... I think combined we have about 200 hours in that game.

I played this for a little bit... Basically, it's the same GTA3 it's always been - story, cut scenes, missions are all in tact. Differences are for one the cars of course - They included a really nice range of fancy cars... mostly sports cars and sport sedans. Not quite as balanced as the original. Even the poor gangsters are driving Mustang concept cars. The mafia drives Audis. They used the same physics engine from the original game and beefed up the speed for most of the cars... So say you blow up a car and some old lady is driving a BMW - she's gonna take off down the street at 100mph running into everything and losing control. It's funny to watch. I wouldn't reccommend this if you've never played the game all the way through at least once. Another physics problem is that your cars are a bit light - not such a problem when the cars were slower in the original GTA3, but in this you can become airborne fairly easy. Most cars are very detailed - some down to the engine and interior... then others aren't quite finished. The Chevy pickup doesn't have a dash panel and some cars don't have the underside textured. A few other anomalies occured when I tried to steal a monster truck - since the cab is a good 10 feet from the ground, your character kinda floats up to get in - looks funny, but the monster truck is fun to drive as a novelty.

Another difference is some very noticeable changes to some of the buildings. There's posters everywhere like Avril Levigne, Matrix, Lord of the Rings, etc... You can find some buildings are now McDonalds or whatever. They also added a few landmarks - I saw the Statue of Liberty on an island near the bridge and chuckled to myself. Also - instead of the dodo, you can apparently fly a fighter plane. Sounds pretty cool to me - can't wait.

Still - with a few faults, it's still totally worth getting. I'm rediscovering GTA3 now. I bought it for 20 bucks last year and never got into it. Now I have a reason.

I gotta scoff a little at people who think PC gaming sucks compared to consoles. :)

Every time I try to download it it times out. I also tried the mirror, but it just downloads a corrupted file. Does anyone know somewhere else I can get it?

Edit:
I'm gonna try FilePlanet, but I hate waiting my turn to download. Oh well. Gotta do what I gotta do.

Blake 05-26-03 12:21 PM

You could try downloading via an FTP program which would allow you to resume the download.
