So where is the GameCube price drop?
 

Xbox and PS2 went from $199 to $179. GameCube price has not moved. I bought a GameCube earlier this month at BestBuy, anticipating a price drop. I was going to take advantage of their 30-day price guarantee. But now I'm not so sure I'll be getting some of my money back.

If there isn't a GameCube price drop, no big deal; $20 is not a make or break thing for me, but still it'd be nice to have it. Does anyone who works in retail know if the GameCube is going to go down in price soon?

They aren't doing a price drop...instead they are going to bundle in the GBA player.

I would return it and wait for the bundle.

BTW when is it coming out again?

I was looking at buying a Gamecube bundle, but I guess I should be waiting for the new bundle????

Well in that case I'm glad I bought it now. I got Zelda for free when I bought the GameCube, and I'd much rather have that than the GBA player.

Yep, GBA player bundle instead. Even if that wasn't the case, I wouldn't think they would drop the price until the free game promo ends. I mean you can currently get the GC and your pick from 4 AAA games for $30 less than the PS2 or X-box.

All indications thus far point to yes.

I couldn't find or search for the Gamecube on the FYE site.

may be an in-store thing only, doesn't look like they sell the sytems on-line.

Quick Question: this sounds great- do all FYEs carry video game consoles? We just got an FYE in our mall and I was only in it once and I only remember Movies and CDs, but that might be cause I wasn't in there very long. (things seemed way overpriced)

Yup, for the most part they all do. Unless it's a very tiny store. Usually they are behind the counter.

Okay here is the FYE deal. First off, my bad it's a $20 rebate and it does start tomorrow (Thursday 22nd).

You cannot get one of the four games w/ the rebate, HOWEVER you do get 3 other games. Spryo, Crash, and Defender. The games come bundled (shirink-wrap) on the system. Which, if you didn't like could simply trade them back in for a game that you would like.

So all in all, still a decent deal for $129.99 after MIR.

Heres my story :) I called the FYE in the mall and they dont carry video games, but they told me they do upstairs at Saturday Matianee or something like that. (same company w/ 2 store right near each other?) Anyway, they had buy xbox for 179.99 w/ a free game and get a 30.00 rebate making it 149.99. Thanks for whomever posted this and/or the gentleman who works there!
