I dont game much anymore, and the last game I played, Splinter Cell, didn't really have too many cutscenes, and they did a good job setting up the missions for you, so that was good.
I've always been impressed with the cutscenes that Blizzard does. I would LOVE to see Blizzards animators do a feature film (preferrably based on the Starcraft world) Brian |
As I grow older and more mature I don't have the time to play all the games I want to play. I look for games that give me a very engrossing experience. I want to be involved in a whole other world or story for 1-4 hours at a time, once or twice a week. I find that games with good cutscenes do this for me. I liked .hack//infection b/c it gave me a whole other DVD to watch to get more of a feel for the game world. The game (with it's cutscenes), DVD, and anime all playing in conjunction was a perfect experience for me. I'm also looking forward to playing Xenosaga for much of the same experience.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't have it in me to button-mash anymore. I want to get involved in a story and a good cutscene will help me do that. Crappy cutscenes detract from the game as a whole, and I don't have time anymore to put up with games that aren't 10's to me anymore. MGS2's cutscenes ruined the game to me. |
I love cutscenes! I find them rewarding and enjoy when they are set up to progress the story. And watching a cool cutscene at the end of a game is rewarding for me. Like the ending movie for Kingdom Hearts was awesome and made more memorable. Also i remember playing Rygar and they showed a cutscene near the end where Princess Harmonia was singing and it was beautiful, i loved it.
I do hate tho when they advertise games on TV or whatever and all they show is the cutscenes from the game instead of in-game action, its misleading. |
