X-box 1.5?

Hello. Any news on a smaller X-Box or was that just a rumor? Thanks!

AgtFox 05-16-03 10:03 AM

I would figure Microsoft would have announced it at their Kickoff Conference. I am going out on a limb and saying rumor. Their updated Xbox stuff includes new LiveNow, Music Mixer, etc.

k, THANKS. I want to get an x-box but just wanted to make sure I didn't buy it then a new one come out. I found a used one for $124. good price?

spankyj 05-16-03 10:31 AM

Ok price. Check for a refurbished box. You might be able to get one of those at around the same price.

Refurbished better than used?
Thanks

yes, refurbished has been checked and fixed by microsoft. used is as is.

try ebgames.com or their b&m store's, they usually carry refurb units.

I think they are $149.99 still even after the price drop but that is till pretty decent. You get the same warranty as a new unit. Way better deal than a used IMO.

Thanks, that was another question I had: warranty. My brother had a PS2 go bad and luckily he had a warranty thing w/ EB where they just handed him a new one. So if a refurb comes with the same as new I will go that route.
Thanks guys!

Ok, the good. The warranty is a killer deal for the refurb. If the refurb goes bad you have a chance to get a brand spanking new one if they happen to not have a refurb in stock.

The bad. They seem to usually have plenty of refurb PS2's in stock for some strange reason. I won't say anymore than that. :D

More Good! You are getting an Xbox and they have the same policy as the PS2 but you tend to be more likely to get a non refurb Xbox from what I've seen at my local EB which is not statistical but based on my own conclusion with my own relationship with the store. In other words it is my opinion based on knowledge of a SINGLE EB store.

I sure was looking forward to that smaller Xbox though because it was said (rumor) that it would be smaller and wouldn't have the same issues with heat. I heard it wouldn't even need a fan. So much for that rumor.

I was looking forward to that smaller xbox, but since you just said it was supposed to not need a fan, that right there I think proves its a rumor :(. Even the Dreamcast needed a little fan and the PSX shouldve had one.

Good point man. I didn't think of it like that. I was just anticipating my Xbox going out in the future (during warranty) and wondering if it did if I would get a different type. I've been worried about the heat of that sucker. The PS2 has those fins all over it like a car amp so I think that is how they get by. I hope that is the reason for the amp like styling of the PS2!

And the PS2 has a fan too. A rather noisy one too, ughghg.

xfilekr 05-16-03 06:54 PM

Do you mean they usually have more "preowned" available than refurb? If I understand you correctly- I should make sure I get a refurb correct? Thank you for all your information! I'm probably gonna pick one up this week!
