Building a MAME Cabinet

I need some help on building a mame cabinet. I want to add a trackball for Golden Tee. Can I just buy a USB trackball that will work with MAME or do I need to get an interface board like the one used for joysticks and buttons?
Also would anyone be willing to share some pics of the wired joysticks and buttons?

If you want one that will work with Golden Tee as well as MAME, you're better off buying a nice trackball from www.happcontrols.com and getting an interface board and adding a couple buttons. At least that's what I did and it works like a charm:

Happ is having a sale on buttons for .99 each instead of 1.80 and trackballs for 69.99 instead of 99.99 this month.

I did search but I didn't see anyone talking about using a tracball without the opti-pac interface. Thanks for your most vaulable input.

I would like to avoid using the opti-pac interface if I can. I hate to buy it for only a couple of games. I have found a nice deal for 20 buttons and 2 sticks for 20.00 plus shipping.

Well, for some reason this thread prompted me to finally purchase some buttons and a joystick to fiddle around with.

I would love to have a MAME setup in a cabinet like this one:

Last arcade auction i went to, they had a computer space (not working) that didnt got for too much, 100 or 200 hundred. it was red, not yellow, though.

Hey that would be perfect. It's good to know that the cabinets are out there. I was thinking of actually sculpting one myself out of fiberglass.
