Will Lucasarts make a comeback?
Once, they were by far my favorite game developer, and I bought every game they made blindly. More recently, they have been outsourcing their games, allowing crap like Star Wars : Rebellion come out. Perhaps that will change though, with their next releases.
Full Throttle : Hell on Wheels should make an appearance at this years E3, and Gladius is looking to be a nice Tactical RPG. Is anyone else excited about this news? http://www.lucasarts.com/products/gl...screens/65.jpg |
I sure hope so, we need a new Sam & Max game right away. BTW, Indiana Jones for Xbow was pretty good.

what? Galaxies isn't enough?
Jedi Knight Academy is going to be something I look forward to :) |
I recently hit eBay and picked up sealed copies of Full Throttle ($5) and The Dig ($7.50)... then I pulled Sam & Max: Hit The Road, Day of the Tentacle and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis out of the ol' dusty box they were in and decided to a take a trip down memory lane...
1995 here I come!!!!!!! |
Monkey Island and Grim Fandango were the 2 best Lucas Arts games IMO. Awesome, awesome games.

Well, the early word on Full Throttle 2 is that it is an action game, with little of the adventure elements left (the game is touted to have 40 *levels* - THAT should make one worry).
And supposedly the same reporter said Sam & Max looks even worse. And Secret Weapons of Normandy has been incredibly arcade-fied (the original was more action-oriented but still had sim elements). While I still have a wait-and-see attitude, admittedly I have incredibly low expectations right now. |
Comeback?
I wasn't aware they were in a slump. Besides I'm looking forward to Jedi Knight 3 as well :) |
I liked Rebellion. KOTOR is coming out soon as well as Galaxies. Being part of the George Lucas empire I think their job is to put out as much SW games as possible regardless of the quality.

Lucasarts is really more of a publishing company now, they farm out the development to other groups. When a new game is released by them I look for the developer name since the "Lucasarts" seal of approval doesn't mean much anymore.
