Hey game developers, people who play FPS games want to SHOOT!
So I was playing Max Payne on the Xbox last night and I got to that dream sequence where Max is in his house and has to find his way thru a maze of corridors and other such nonsense. Reminded me of Half Life, where you ended up in the Aliens world and you had to jump from one "platform in the sky" to another...
Blah! I play FPS games to SHOOT bad guys. So you want to integrate stuff like that into the story, use cinematics for god's sake.
I feel better now.

I thought they were great sequnces. They add so much to the game, both visually, and psychologically. The same thing goes for the opening credits of half life. They could have easily launched into an introductory video, but instead you are commuting to the beginning of the game, free to look out the window with using the game engine controls. That way is so much more immersive. I'd rather my games be played and my movies be watched.
Blah! I play FPS games in single player mode to be intrigued by a storyline. I play multiplayer to just shoot bad guys. In Multiplayer, even a cut-shot to your death is considered spurious. Goldeneye would have been a great game, if you didn't have to watch you character go thru a 5 second death sequence ever time he got shot.....

I totally agree. tis not be a FPS indeed.
Now, to say people who want to play FPS just want to shoot is a bit to much. I want some story sometimes to the mindless shooting.

Ok, ok, 3rd person shooter then. Regardless, I want some story too, and I don't mind some puzzle solving that require some thought and analysis but I could do without the bits that rely solely on trial and error. Oops wrong way, start again... Oops, I fell off, try again...

What would you dream about if you play a game like "Finding Nemo"?
