Robotech (Xbox) $7.99, $9.99 at Ebgames.com

Regular version is $7.99:
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categorie...p?pf_id=224076

Collector's version is $9.99:
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categorie...p?pf_id=224747

Should be the same price in-store, as well. If the sale price isn't noted on the box, ask them to scan it.

dgc, I wish I would have caught this earlier. Robotech is IMO a pretty flawed game. I played it through in a weekend and consider it the most frustrating game I've ever played. Most of the missions force you to be perfect - not good, not very good, but flawless - and even then you barely stand a chance.

Graphics are alright, but get pretty plain and monotous the further you get into it. The best missions are the air/space-based missions, but there aren't as many of them as I would have hoped.

I also thought, since it's based on an anime, the game would have some decent cut scenes. But alas, it's just comprised sketches of the characters with voice over - no animation. And the sketches look more like Don Bluth than anime, probably a result of the game being developed outside of Japan.

The only things that kept me playing are the bonus interviews with the voice staff from the original series - but if you never got into it in the first place you probably wouldn't find it interesting.

Well, at least you get dog tags and a t-shirt out of it - I expect to see you wearing it when we ever have our Chinatown outing!

Jeremy,

Thanks for the info. Can I cancel an online EB order?

Yeah, worse comes to worse, I'll ebay the game and keep the shirt.

Sweet

Just picked up Robotech and Deathrow for $26 at the mall.

I'm glad I held off on buying the collector's edition when it was first released.

i don't think it's a great game either... but for $10, it's a good deal and worth it.

in addition to the tshirt, dog tag, and soundtrack, you also get 5 art cards and a lenticular card.

went to the local ebx and picked it up (well, i sent the wife )

I've heard this game blows, but for $10 plus shipping, I couldn't resist. Plus, I get a T-shirt that I'll never wear in public.

Damn you all !

I wasn't looking at getting any games this week after getting 3 last weekend (Chase, Enclave and No One Lives Forever) but I can't turn this down.

I ordered Gunvalkyrie and Robotech SE for $9.99 each. I also picked up WWF RAW, which is still on sale for $9.99. If it's $4.99 to ship 2 or 3, might as well get 3

BTW, new copies of Enclave for the XBox are going for $10 at EB B&M's.

I'm at the point now where I have so many games to play already, I'm not going to pull the trigger until I get some out of the way or it's a "must-buy".

One thing that kinda burns me is that I think I'm getting a deal at $10 or $20, but when I get around to playing them I find they are really only worth that much because they are such medicre games, so it really wasn't much of a deal at all. That's why I passed on Enclave - I heard so many bad things about it (presentation aside - the graphics are top notch) I figured why would I want to pay even $10 for a game I'll never play through, when I have all these other games that I WANT to play through?

I had that epiphany during Robotech - after I finished it I felt it was a wasted weekend of gaming.

Well I spent $10 on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Shenmue 2 and those 2 games have provided me with more than $50 worth of enjoyment! They are great and well worth the the price I paid for them....

Yep, sometimes a game clicks with you and sometimes it doesn't. I've bought many many games just because they were bargains, and many are still unopened due to time constraints. And many games that I've bought at closer to full price I wish I'd waited, because they almost all end up at 19.99 or less eventually.

But you can't rule out games that hit the bargain bin early, just because 'they must be bad to do that'. Like Lastblade said, Buffy and Shenmue 2 are great games.

I decided to go to a B&M EB in the mall, and their price for Robotech SE was $19.99. But I took it anyway, because I was trying to use up some of my trade-in credits.

Yeah, I would have jumped all over Shenmue II if I didn't already have the European release for the DC. Actually, I did pursue it at the local EB when it was $9.99, and when they didn't have the original case for it - one of those last-available display items - I said I'd pass.

Buffy never interested me because I never got into the show. I figure I'd save my $10 for an action-adventure game I would get into more.

I would have picked up Quantum Redshift in a heartbeat for $9.99, if I already didn't buy it for $29.99...My next $9.99 hopeful is Kung Fu Chaos.
