Sega Saturn Trade in

I was cleaning out my basement and found a sega saturn, how much trade-in do you think I would get for it? It looks like it has all the pieces, but alas the games didnt make it through. Thanks

PixyJunket 04-15-03 11:42 AM

Gamestop will probably give you 75 cents store credit, and then charge you $2 for bothering them, therefore you'd end up paying $1.25 there.

You may be able to get $30 for it on eBay, that's going to be you're best bet.

Lastblade 04-15-03 11:46 AM

Yah, ebay it or sell it on a videogaming forum for under $50 (at best).

Gizmo 04-15-03 12:49 PM

A saturn with no games...maybe $15-20 or so....No games to test it, and its not rare by any means.

KingSmoth 04-15-03 12:49 PM

Gamestop and EB will not accept it. They will not take SegaCD, Sega Saturn, Turbo Grafx, etc. At least, not the stores in my area, as I have asked the managers.

jrutz 04-15-03 01:24 PM

But why would you want to trade one of the greatest systems ever?!?!?!? And that is NOT sarcasm, BTW...

My advice would be to keep it and try and find some classic games for it.

Panzer Dragoon Saga!!!!

ok on a serious note you probably don't want any longer I would say selling it or trading it here in the forum or ebay(or half.com) would be the best bet.

consoleman 04-15-03 01:45 PM

I agree with jrutz. It's an amazing system. I'm still playing it as much as I'm playing many of my new systems (PS2 and Xbox included).

If you can get your hands on some of the classic games, you're in for a good time.

milo bloom 04-15-03 02:11 PM

Nights, and if you can find it, Christmas Nights. The only reason we have our Saturn.

duz 04-15-03 02:49 PM

mmm nights

Don't forget Dragon Force! Too bad they only made 3 of them. (That's what it seems like at least.)

Then I have one of them! :D

Seriously, there have been a TON of quality releases for the Saturn:

NiGHTS
Baku Baku
Daytona USA
Fighters MegaMix
Virtua Fighter 2
Virtua On
WipEout - bests the PSX version!
Fighting Vipers - get the import for Pepsiman!
Darkstalkers
Saturn Bomberman
Panzer Dragoon I, II and Saga
Dragon Force
Iron Storm
Tempest 2000 - my favorite!
Sonic Jam
Shining Force III
Sega Rally
Enemy Zero
Gungriffon
Last Bronx
Virtual Cop 2
Virtua Kids
X-Men
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
Duke Nukem 3D
Shining the Holy Ark - didn't like it as much as other people did

And don't forget to pick up a Netlink if you can find one and play some great online games between friends.

I forgot about Virtual On and Gun Griffon. Damn, I need to buy another Saturn. How rare is Virtual On? That came with the arcade stick didn't it?

Damn right before i said that hehe... one of my fav games of all time... i actually imported Dragon Force 2 from japan. No knowledge of japanese really hindered me hehe... but the battles were so much more epic since you could use 2 different kinds of troops at once and choose which go in front and such... Set the Mages in front to get their soldiers and set the archers behind to get their dragons... it was awesome

PixyJunket 04-15-03 04:06 PM

Nobody has mentioned probably the single greatest shooter of all time?

RADIANT SILVERGUN

I could list a TON of awesome Saturn import games.. man that was a beautiful system.

trigun 04-15-03 05:05 PM

Radiant Silvergun?
Oh yeah, the game that fetches over $150 on eBay.

Never played it.

Isn't there supposed to be a sequel for one of the current systems?

Ikaruga.. a "psuedo" sequel. NOWHERE near as good.
(But still waaay better than 90% of the crap games today!)

Coming to the USA for Gamecube soon! :D

BuddyRevell 04-15-03 09:04 PM

For the love of GOD. Guardian Heroes!! Awesome game. I still play it. 6 player action!

milo bloom 04-15-03 09:24 PM

How was Burning Rangers?

Shimmer35 04-16-03 05:05 AM

If you don't have a bunch of games to sell with it, I say just keep it. It's not like $30 bucks is the largest amount of money, unless you really need it. Are you sure it still even works? You mentioned the games didn't "make it".

Jackskeleton 04-16-03 05:59 AM

Are you fools forgetting one of the best games out their:

D&D

it was neat since it was a direct Arcade port over and it contained both first and second parts to the game. Great stuff. :)

Another classic is that it had a true switching option for X-men vs Street fighter. :)

I didn't like it, although the premise at the time was pretty original. It was short and fairly difficult, but once you finished a level and played it again everything would be shuffled around and randomized, so there was a lot of replay value. Plus it had a NiGHTS scoring system, so that it wasn't that you finished, but how you finished.

My favorite thing was how after every level you would get emails from the people you rescued. I think it definitely deserves a more-polished sequel, but the original is more of a novelty at this point.
