Help! PS2 Controller no longer vibrates

Has anyone else had a problem with their PS2 controller all of a sudden quit vibrating. I even tried a new controller, and it doesn't work either. Neither port vibrates. The settings in the software are also set for vibrate. Is there any way to fix this?

Something probably blew in your controller port if you tried a different controller and it didnt work

Verify by trying the controller on another PS2.

Are these 3rd party controllers, by chance? I have heard of 3rd party controllers being a very bad thing for PS2's.

No they are Playstation brand controllers. I've never used a 3rd party brand. The only thing different I have had in my controller ports is the DVD remote attachment by Sony. Would that have anything to do with it?

Even the first party controllers have been incredibly unreliable for me, so it's probably just bad luck, although that does sound like a controller port issue and not a controller one.

The remote should be ok since it's by Sony.

I can help you with this problem. Buy an Xbox.

Well, at least you got 7 valid replies before the Xbox comments started coming. ;)

I'd also double check the controller by checking it on a different PS2.

I'm pretty sure its not the controllers since both of them aren't working in either port. One I just bought on Monday, but I'll see if I can find someone with a PS2, so I can try that out.

Thanks

I have the exact same problem with the controllers and everything I use for the ps2 is Sony branded. I have 2 systems at home and the controllers do not vibrate anymore for some strange reason for both of the PS2's I have. I bought the controllers to my freinds house and it vibrated there strange!

I've been searching the net, and it seems to be a fairly common problem, but no one has the solution. Well, it may be something I have to live with since I'm not about to go buy another one.

Uh huh, because the xbox never gives people dirty disc errors, and a problem where the system just freezes for no apparent reason is non-existent. ;)

All systems have their problems, and so far the Gamecube is the better built. Just by looking in this forum, you can compare the amount of posts regarding system problems. Gamecube ones are not common, but it seems xbox and ps2 ones come up pretty often.

Not to nitpick but if you look at how many more PS2's are out there it should not be suprising.
