I guess I should admit off hand I'm not much of a gamer I ended up w/ an Xbox for free which is the first console I've owned since an Atari Jaguar I had for a couple of months and before that it was an Intellivision Anyway I've played through all of Starfighter except for the merc ship at the end and I can't see a way of beating it. Once inside the larger ship I never seem to be able to do enough damage to dent the shields much less do any actual damage. I tried looking around at some game sites but all they had were cheats (how do you enter those anyway?) but no hints, so I thought I would try here.

Anyone have any suggestions/hints/clues?

Well, if its the same as the PS2 version, you got to be patient, do hit and runs, hide and finally knock him out.
