Go to gamerankings, which compiles a bunch of reviews from different online sources, and links them. Here's sapphire:

Wal*mart has them for $24 a piece, bundled with the complete strategy guide... the same guide comes with either version.

Should I pick this one up? I've played previous versions for a few hours and enjoyed them, but I've never owned one.

How many hours of gameplay?

Would this be good for a 7 year old who enjoys the cartoon?

Depends if the 7 year old can read by him/herself.

Depends on how far you go with it. Most Pokémon games can be beaten in somewhere around 20 hours, however, collecting and training your Pokémon adds hours and hours of game play. I accumulated over 80 hours on one game save on original games and actually played them over and over. I've probably played the red version of Pokémon more than any other game ever. End the end, it's like I said. It depends on how much you want to put into the game. Finding someone to fight adds a lot to the game too.

I've heard nothing but good things about these games!

I think I'm gonna pick it up now at wal-mart though because thats a good price. I have over 80 hours on Pokemon Silver and have yet to beat Kanto on it. These games are pretty long (never played the first red or blue ones though).

Picked it up last night at CC.. seems okay so far.. it's been a LONG time since I played the last one, so would be hard to make comparisons.

I really enjoyed the first Pokemon game way back before the marketing started. It was a fun little RPG. However, I never played any of the later ones because I was sick of all the hype over the cartoon and merchandise. I might give this one a try.

Hmm... just stopped by at Target. Their "low price" is apparently 35 bucks. Is the retail for this still 40? I find that doubtful since most places have it for 30 or below, and even TRU has a regular sticker of 30 (on sale for 25)

Picked it up at the local Fry's Electronics, which frequently has sales corresponding to the other nationally advertised stores. 23.99, not bad, and certainly worth it for a 1st party GBA game, Pokemon or not.

I'm going to try and go to Walmart in a little bit. I'm planning on Ruby.

The two do have different art work, right?

Did Walmart have some sort of ad that said the games were $24.95? Because when I went there they charged me $30 for the game w/ guide. I looked around the store for their weekly ad but couldn't find any.

Walmart is bad about this. Each store seems to charge whatever they want. I have seen things at three different prices at three different Walmarts in the same city. I think prices are decided on many items by the store manager to make them competitive with another near by store.
