Best Buy GC Carry Case Deal

I just got back from Best Buy (Potomac Yards, VA), and they were selling this bundle:

Carrying Case
Wavebird Controller
$50 in coupons

All for $29! The coupons all had expired, but an extra Wavebird alone costs $35 at BB. Plus if you have a $5 coupon the deal is even sweeter.

I guess these were originally distributed with the purchase of a GC system. YMMV.

Great. I just bought a wavebird at Best Buy today. $35 - $5 coupon. The carrying case would've been nice.

BTW, are these the same beige carrying cases that they were bundling with Gamecube purchases back in last Thanksgiving?

If it is, then I'll have to go and get me one. Because the case is pretty decent, and I need to get a Wavebird anyway.

Best Buy is just clearing out inventory. If your BB does not have those carrying case/Wavebird combos leftover from Thanksgiving, they won't be receiving anymore.

Dang it, I found a BB that had about 10 of these. But they want to sell it for $59.99. Naturally I passed.

That's what it was marked on the package, but they were marked by a sign on a table (w/ all those GC games that are $9.99 this week) at $29.99. Keep an eye on them - they're probably gonna clear them out soon.

Actually, I took the package to a cashier for price check, and it rang up $59.99. I wonder if it's a regional deal.

Rang up same way for me. The cashier had to "price check" it and manually adjust it to $29.99.

Went to the Bestbuy in Hawthorne, CA to see if they had any of these carrying cases. Lo and behold, they had like 5 of them on shelf marked "Gamecube Carrying Case $29.99". Price tag on the cases themselves read $59.99. I went to counter and it scanned at $59.99. I told the young lady at the cash register that the shelf price says $29.99. She replied, "Oh, I doubt that sir. I bought one of these myself for $60." I insisted that the price should be lower. She then called for somebody to check the price, and another man came over saying, "That shelf price is wrong. The $29.99 is for a different carrying case. The case you're trying to buy is spilling over into the wrong section." I then asked this man to show me the cheaper carrying case. We walked over to the shelf and the guy started looking around. He then says to me, "Looks like we're all out of those cheaper carrying cases." I then asked him to show me where my case was supposed to be located. He got a manager who said, "You've caught me in a good mood sir, so I'll let you have it for $30." Geez, I then had to argue w/ the cashier to use my $5 off coupon (she said it was only good for video games). I got it for $25 in the end, but YMMV.

Can anyone tell me which case it is? Is it the long rectangular one?

Beige, looks like a camcorder case. I think the rectangular one was made by the same company as they look the same except for the shape.

It's in a plastic bag with a piece of cardboard stapled on top that said "GCN carrying case, Wavebird controller, $50+ valuable coupons".

But so far, seemed like the only people that got in on the deal had to argue to have the price manually adjusted. Has anybody actually seen these scan up at $29.99?

When I went into BB, the cases were shrink-wrapped and tagged with an open-item sticker priced at $34.99.

Just saw some of these leftover cases again at another BB. This time, there is a correct price tag saying $29.99. There were about 6 of them left, and was full of dust when I picked one up.

But, $24.99 (with $5 gamer coupon) for a Wavebird controller plus free carrying case is still a great deal.

Finally found one of these. There are (3) left at the Cobb County store on Barrett Pkwy. They are not price marked but do have a yellow SKU sticker on the case. They rang up for $29.99 at the register. Also used the $5 off coupon with no problem. Thanks!

About 2 weeks ago, I saw a whole shopping cart full of these (must have been 15+) with a huge marker sign saying 29.99 clearance. I woulda bought a couple except I already have a carrying case and 4 controllers + 1 wavebird.

EDIT: It was at the Palisades Mall Best Buy (West Nyack)

I don't think it matters how much you put on the card. The lady at the counter said I could put a dollar on it, if I were just getting it for the coupon. I guess she knows what I do, since I go in there quite a bit.

I should check for the controller...

I had a $20 GC from XMAS and bought (4) game GCs at $5 each. I busted them open at the register and re-used them with a coupon and told her to throw the cases away. I bought some GCs with a GC.

Damn, you don't have to be that skimpy, at least put a whole dollar on the GC...

As for myself, I usually put $5 on it.

I saw those 3 the other day, but I didn't want to wait in line for them to check the price.

I don't get the .50 vs. $1 thing. You're spending $25, put $25 on the card and use it to pay the balance.
