Anyone else having RPG overload?

I'm finishing up Kingdom Hearts FINALLY, and sitting in wait, unopened, are Suikoden 3, and .hack...and I still want to buy Dark Cloud 2, Xenosaga, and Wild Arms 3! And I've also got the original Suikoden and Grandia 2 for the DC which I recently picked up to play!

Too many good RPG's all coming out at once! :(

That's all, here's my list of unplayed RPGs or similar games:

Saturn:
Mystaria

Dreamcast:
D2
Record of Lodoss War
Shenmue
Skies of Arcadia

Playstation:
Breath of Fire 3
Chrono Cross
Dragon Warrior VII
FF IX
FF Anthology
FF Chronicles
FF Tactics
Koudelka
Legend of Dragoon
Parasite Eve
Parasite Eve II
Star Ocean
Suikoden
Suikoden II
Thousand Arms
Vagrant Story
Wild Arms 2
Xenogears

N64:
Zelda: Majora's Mask

Gamecube:
Zelda: OOT/Master Quest

I think that's all. Kinda went nuts when RPGs started to come out for the PS after the glut. This doesn't even include the RPGs I want to get for the current systems.

shizawn 03-04-03 03:42 PM

Fortunately, there aren't a lot of CRPGs coming out in the near future that I want to buy. Lionheart, Greyhawk: Temple of Elemental Evil, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and the next Black Isle Studio project, codenamed Jefferson.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few CRPGs that I own, but aren't even close to finishing.

RPGs are pretty much all I play these days. I estimate it'll take me many months to finish the ones I have.

fujishig 03-04-03 04:30 PM

Especially considering that up to this point (before Suikoden III and Kingdom Hearts), there was really only one premium "Japanese" RPG released for the current generation (that was FFX).

Breath of Fire has a quote on the back that heralds it as "one of the top ten PS2 rpgs of the year." It's only March.

I think the days are long gone when an rpg fan could play every decent rpg on a given system. I'm still reeling from the glut at the end of the PS1's lifespan. And I find that if I start multiple RPGs at the same time, or take significant time off of one, I totally forget the story. So right now I'm committed to Xenosaga, which should take me a month or so, with the current rate I get to play games. I've been tempted with .hack and Breath of Fire, but I'll wait on those. I've already preordered Wind Waker, however...

Thats what I do Fujisig,I dont buy a RPG if im currently playing one,I just finished Suikoden 3 last week and plan on getting XenoSaga this week and I might wait for DC2 to go GH.

I'm having RPG-underload since I sent my PSX in storage (i.e., parents' house - can't fit too much in a Manhattan apartment). I do have my Dreamcast here, but I'm really jonesing for a good, console-style next-gen RPG and my XBox just doesn't cut it in that category (and don't say Morrowind, I had it and it was a bore).

I'm still new to the rpg world, so I'm really excited. Aside from the Zelda games of yore, I've only played two RPG's. One was Final Fantasy VII, and I'm currently playing .hack//infection. I loved FF7 and I'm also really liking .hack, and I can't wait to get Xenosaga. Actually, I was looking at Gideon68's list and was kind of looking for RPG titles that I may have missed and can pick up for cheap.

Groucho 03-04-03 10:02 PM

shizawn, I'm with you on all of those titles. Temple of Elemental Evil especially.

DVDTalker002 03-04-03 11:28 PM

Explain, for instance, how Tetris could be considered an RPG.

Outlaw 03-05-03 12:03 PM

Yeah everytime more than 2 rpg's come out it gets to be difficult finding time to play them all because they take awhile to complete, not that i'm compaining, thats one of the reasons that makes them work the money. I also like to only concentrate on 1 rpg at a time, in the past when I had played more than one I forgot what to do in which one and it took way longer as well. I'm getting pretty far in Xenosaga and its been awesome so far. I also want to play some of the other ones like .hack and BOF but i've waited over a year for them to localize xenosaga so I had to get it :).

When you're playing a character, I mean.

I get an overload of RPG by just watching my brothers play every friggin one that gets put on the store shelves.

zero 03-06-03 02:01 AM

Ive barely touched FF X, and I have yet to open Xenosaga, I have Dark Cloud 2 on demo at work and so far I like what Im playing, and Looking at Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter I may pick it up next pay period. I also bought Final Fantasy Chronicles about three weeks ago. Yes Im too am experiencing RPG overload :p

Outlaw 03-06-03 12:48 PM

Sorry Outlaw I should have been more specific. :p

young 03-06-03 01:38 PM

still trying to finish grandia... and ff8, chrono trigger (haven't started ff9). finished ff7, ffx, chrono cross... maybe a couple of others i can't think of at the moment.

i'm itching to get suikoden III and .hack. but must wait until i finish the other ones.

fujishig 03-06-03 02:05 PM

Man, if I actually waited until I finished an rpg before I bought the next one... I'd still be stuck on FF7 (which I got frustrated on after losing my disk 4 save on a third party memory card).

I still have a tough time with Vagrant Story... if not for FAQs, I don't think I'd be anywhere near finishing that game.

That's pretty far considering FF7 only has 3 discs.

I also never beat FF7 after losing a save with 60+ hours on it.

ack, my mistake, I was confused. I already have FF Chronicles :). I thought I was losing my head...again.

The one I was thinking of was Final Fantasy Origins which is the remake of FF1 and FF2j in SNES style and is coming out in March or April I think. I heard the music was semi-redone with better quality samples too.

What about FF3? I just bought my wife Chronicles with 4 and Chrono Trigger.
