Openned up my PS2
My PS2 was getting really bad at playing any type of media the last few weeks. Its getting close to its 2nd Birthday, so I figure I'd open it up and give it a quick cleaning. I openned up the main case, then removed the the cover for the CD/DVD Player and cleaned the lens using a q-tip and alcohol. The inside wasn't as dusty as you would think (no where nearly as dusty as say... a computer) and even the lens didn't look dirty.
Well, after cleaning the lens (I didn't have an compressed air, so i couldn't clean it out fully), I closed it back up and it seems to be working like new now.
I do have a question. I noticed that there was (what looked like) a ribbon cable coming from the lens to the back of the PS2. It looked worn and had some dirt on it. Is this the kind of thing I shoud be worried about? Could this be another problem down the future? Should I reopen it and clean that ribbon?

Hmm, I may give this a try. My PS2 is having problems reading certain game discs (a couple that were brand new). I'm a little afraid to touch it though seeing as how it plays GTA3, Vice City, and FFX just fine.
