What is this thing? I mean I know what is it, but do I need a memory card for it?

In my experience, 3rd party memory cards are not worth the hassle.

Looks like it modifies an exsisted memory card or in other words.. will probably delete everything on your card at some random time for no reason. That's the luxury of 3rd party memory devices..

Based on this:

* Use only with official PlayStation 2 memory cards.
It looks like it's an add-on to your memory card.. it's 16mb added to the original 8.

I never trust 3rd party hardware. Plus it being an add-on makes it even more suspicious.. for some reason.

if it just adds an additional 8 meg to your existing sony memory card, might as well spend the extra $5 or whatever (not sure how much those are going these days), and get another one. even if it adds 16.. id just go ahead and buy the official card and know that it will work well
