I'm going to have to boil my demo disc. It's acting strange, skipping videos and what not. The demo for Koo-koo-ca-choo or whatever it's called actually brought up a blue screen with a bunch of kanji characters on it. It wouldn't respond to anything. I rebooted and it worked.

If buffy really controls as well as Indy -- same tightness and everything, I'm gonna have to give it a shot. I'd heard you guys talking about how much fun it was, but I just never got around to actually picking it up yet.
Also, Vexx seems like a lot of fun -- seems to have the potential to be a really great platformer -- definitely needed on the xbox. Only real problems I see right now are some of the undeveloped textures, and a few lighting issues that could be improved upon. Anyone else try this? Tuan Jim |

Indiana Jones didn't do anything for me either.
|
Also not impressed with any of the demos on this disc. Very disappointed with Indy. I would pick it up for $30 if I was looking for a diversion. Although this is not the final, I thought the picture was too dark. What the Shemmue? It was like playing Dragons Lair with all the timing of the buttons. Boring!
However, I might pick up Crimson Tide now that I saw the video footage. I saw it for $19 used the other day. |
Originally posted by glassdragon Same for me. Badly mastered disc.. imo indy sucked. The balance on weapons sucked, couldn't kill anyone with the gun and of course the enemies that have unlimited bottles to hit me in the head with and kill me with 2 hits. Looks like tombraider for xbox, not at all impressed myself Tuan Jim |

Kakuto Chojin Recalled
From Gamespot:
"GameSpot has learned that Kakuto Chojin, DreamFactory's Xbox fighting game, has been recalled from store shelves in Japan and North America. Microsoft of Japan has told several news outlets that the reason for the recall stems from religious references made throughout the game that could be seen as offensive." |
aw crap - I should've bought it. :/
|
Yes "Crinsom Sea" not tide. Not even from 'bama either
|
Played on mine last night. My impressions:
Vexx - nothing special. I am not a platformer fan but I definitely enjoyed the Blinx demo more than Vexx. Kakuto Chojin - Look mom...a fighting turd. What a crap game. Those of you who think this is good graphics...well...I don't know what you are looking at. Terrible. MechAssault - I have owned it and have since traded it. Just not a "Mech" fan. MX Superfly - I sat wondering who actually buys games like this as I played the demo. Anyone? Just not my thing. Shenmue II - One word sprang to mind when trying to think of a way to describe this demo and all I could think of was...gay. What a lame game. I don't understand what the fuss is about. Indiana Jones - If this is the way Buffy is controled, I am glad I never picked it up. Seemed interesting but I just did not like the way it handled. So...all in all...not much excitement for this demo disc from me. |

I bought the magazine in HEB and it includes a dvd case, later I went to Barnes & Noble and the magazine did not had the case
|
I just picked this up at Wal-Mart and it also came with a slim DVD case for the demo disc.
I wish my subscription would start up soon so I can stop paying full price for this magazine in the store. |
A case? All I ever see is the cardboard sleeve.

I looked around online, and it looks like it's called a ThinPak case (the clear one on the right).

Same thing as with Hitman 2, but at least they didn't recall it. Kakuto Chojin deserved to be recalled because it was a terrible fighting game and not for silly religious nonsense. Dream Factory is really on a roll. I doubt they can top two back to back disasters like The Bouncer and Kakuto Chojin. |
I"m buying an X-BOX next week so lately I've been browsing some X-BOX related websites for some info and ideas on what games to buy. When I saw the "Official X-BOX magazine" at a store I bought it and was surprised to see how THIN it was (like Gromit said).
On top of that half of the mag is ads (well that's with every mag nowadays). Is the mag always this thin? |
No, this was the thinnest issue yet. I'm not at home to give you a typical page count.
My opinion is that the sub is worth it for the discs alone, the mag is bonus. |
Thanks Trevor! Yeah I did get the mag mostly for the demo disc.
