Best pc shooter/action to get?

This isn't really my field since I'm more in RPG's, but I want to get an action game / shooter and I want suggestions. I'm looking for something with both a single player and fun multiplayer game types and I don't want sneaking or puzzles unless it's minimal!

I'm looking at :
Mafia
Soldier of Fortune 2
Medal of Honor
Unreal 2
Battlefield 1942
James Bonds : Nightfire
Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Any suggestions of something like those listed here, can be new or unlisted, I'm just wondering which is my best pick. (I don't like UT2003 and I already play America's Army)

I don't think Mafia has multiplayer, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

My current habit now is Battlefield 1942. Awsome multiplayer, but the single player is just the same as multiplayer only with bots. Single player is not as much fun IMHO, but maybe you're into that type of thing.

I had a lot of fun with Medal of Honor both single player and multiplayer, but I finished the single player and once BF1942 came out I stopped playing MOH multiplayer.

My favorite games are the Tom Clancy games Rogue Spear and Ghost Recon. Coming out soon is Raven Shield. These are tactical FPS so you can't just run-and-gun, and they're usually one shot one kill with no respawning.

Another favorite are the Jedi Knight games. The latest one, Jedi Outcast, was decent, but I really enjoyed the previous one: Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight.

Don't get Nightfire. I thought the console version sucked huge and I hear the PC version is much worse.

Right now its 75% MOHAA / 25% BF 1942. I've played the demos of both and I'm leaning to MOHAA for the simple reason that it has a single player campaign. I was very good at BF1942, but there was a huge problem of people being idiots and mining the boats, airfield, your own base, blowing up your tanks, people not understanding their goals or playing their class like they should. It's made to be a team game but most people don't treat it as one, I played a medic but ended up manning the 52 cals and ducking to heal mysel while it cooled off since no one let me heal them. Finding a good clan or team based servers would probably push 1942 over MOHAA... can someone confirm me that it changed from the demo/beta?

If you want "balls to the wall" combat action at a discount, pick up Unreal Forever for about $14 anywhere. It has Unreal and Unreal Tournament in one box, plenty o' fraggin'. If you want to add a more strategy-oriented spice to your multiplayer play, the equally affordable Tribes 2 is out there as well. I liked RTCW, but I keep going back to the others. I'm interested in Unreal 2, and desperately hope it's not a Quake-clone like UT2K3 turned out to be.

I play mostly SOF2 now on and off but it's online crowd is dying out

Played MOH for a few months when it came out but then came the stupid hacks. MOH is a good online game though when you find a good server.

Get the Half Life platinum pack. Counterstrike is the best game out there.

Mafia is everything that GTA3 should have been. You should pick it up.
