What do use your PS2, xBox, or GC for?
 

What optional features do you use on your system?

I myself use none at my home.

Over the holidays, I lug my xBox along so i can watch DVD's at my parents non-dvd equipped house.

I use my PS2 for DVDs on occasion, but for the most part its just used for games.

PS2 only for games. I have two stand alone DVD players and plenty of CD players. Plus DVDs look like crap on the PS2.

Gaming only, since I have DVD players hooked up to both the TVs I use to play games on.

PS2 for DVD and gaming, Xbox just for gaming. I use the PS2 for DVDs as it looks better than the Xbox.

I use my Xbox as my primary DVD player as my PS2 doesn't seem to have the playback quality i'm used to.

And it's wonderful to have my Xbox as a jukebox.

I just use my xbox and GC for gaming also.

Haven't figured out how to do anything else with my GC :D

I'll occasionally watch a DVD on my PS2. I've been pleased with it so far, especially after getting the remote.

i use the xbox/ps2 for movies all the time. i have regular dvd players also. i don't notice a difference in quality between the xbox, ps2 and a regular dvd player - probably the tv is a bigger factor.

i use the xbox for cd's too...

i don't get the idea that you shouldn't play a dvd on a game system. why does it matter?

I use the XBox for the occasional R0 PAL. Mostly Asian horror. I dont buy too many PAL DVDs so its almost exclusively gaming. Its good to have the option without having to buy a region free player though.

Wheres the option for both?

PS2: Portable DVD player. It fits easily into a duffel bag along with a few movies -- I use it when I go visit people w/out DVD players for a long weekend (girlfriend, beach house).

The PS2 does make a nice portable player if going to someones house that doesn't have one. I've done that a time or two.

The Xbox was great for region free PAL DVDs. Thats the thing I miss most about it after selling mine.

It doesn't matter. Just a matter of opinion basically.

For me, I don't do it because I notice a huge drop off when compared to my standalone players.

One reason I've seen posted before that makes some since is that it will wear the system out quicker. So if you're like me and play games a good bit and watch movies a ton, you're console will theoretically wear out twice as fast as your using it twice as much.

Really? A "huge" drop off? I don't notice that much of a difference. I would think the only way one could notice a big dropoff is if the standalone DVD player was progressive scan and the TV set was a pretty big screen (32" or bigger) progressive scan/HD TV...

I'm using component video connections from my PS2 & Xbox to my TV, and maybe you're not... so maybe that's the difference rather than the player itself?

I do have my PS2 hooked up with composites at the time being, but I did buy the component connection to try it out and wasn't satisfied with the DVD playback, compared to my Sony DVP NS715P, and returned the cable. The games looked a good deal better, but DVD image quality is more important to me so I decided to go back to composite on the PS2 and leave the Stand alone player hooked up to the components.

It is a progressive player, but my TV (27" Wega) isn't progressive so that doesn't make a difference.

I don't have the remote with the upgraded drivers so that probably makes a difference. But I wasn't willing to spend the money on it when I already have a great stand alone player in my HT, as well as another decent one upstairs.

Basically the DVD playback feature in a console is useless to most people who already have good standalone players. Portability doesn't matter to me because I'm not willing to lug it around. Friends can buy their own DVD player or come watch movies at my place. I just gave it a shot as the games look better, but the DVD playback dropped off too much for my tastes to make it my primary player. And the games didn't look enough better to justify buying a component switcher.

If you cant notice the difference between a stand alone DVD player and the Box or PS2 you either have a cheap DVD player or a crappy TV. There is a difference.

Gaming mainly. Only use it for dvds when I can't watch movies in the living room.
