Gamestop deal for Devil May Cry 2
Pretty sure this hasn't been posted yet...
Gamestop will give you DMC2 for 9.99 if you trade in any 2 games (excluding sports or wrestling titles). I traded in DMC1 and Silent Hill 2, but the guy there said I could have just brought in 2 copies of Fantavision if I wanted (of course, i don't own that POS game). Edited to say that this is actually a Gamestop deal, not an EB deal. Sorry... |
WOW! That surprises me. They never take games that are marked $19.99 or less. I may have to try that myself.
|
I called my local EB today about this, since I have some games I would trade. The manager told me this: either someone is lying about the promotion, or an EB is doing an illegal promotion. He said he was surprised they weren't doing that promo, but told me that no EB is supposed to be doing it, as he called a few other stores to find out.
|
AAACCK..I meant to say that it was Gamestop that did this promotion.
Both stores are right next to one another at my mall (actually it's gamestop, then spencers, then EB), and I accidently mixed them up. I'll get the mods to change the subject to reflect this... |
I didn't think stores took duplicate titles.
|
I stopped in the Software Etc store at the mall and the deal is GOOD. Also, you can get "The Getaway" for FREE or DMC2 for $9.99. You can trade in your "Greatest Hits' titles too. Not a bad deal.
|
the only restrictions placed upon this deal are the same ones we have had in prior promotions of the same kind. No sports titles 2002 or earlier, no wrestling titles, and no demo discs. If someone wouldn't take a game worth less then 19.99 or whatever thats messed up, last promotion i traded in state of emergency which is worth $2 and Stuntman which is worth $10, and picked up mario sunshine.
Games that are 9.99 w/ two trade ins: DOA: Extreme Beach Volleyball Devil May cry 2 Getaway Tom Clancys Ghost Recon (all 3 systems) a few others (i forget) Free w/ 2 trade ins: Resident Evil 2 GC Resident Evil 3 GC |
Just got back from GameStop - i traded in 6 games for the deal(Max Payne, Baldur's Gate, Bloody Roar 3, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, Silent Hill 2, Wave Race: Blue Storm), and got DMC 2, The Getaway, and Ghost Recon(one of the other promo games). I wasn't too interested in GR or The Getaway, but got them anyway - the guy rang up the 6 games seperately and said they were worth $56, so I'm getting a better deal($120 as opposed to $56) by getting the two promo games and DMC 2, since I have 7 days to swap TG and GR if I don't like them.
I also traded in the uber-crappy PSX games Dino Crisis 2 and Nightmare Creatures for the gold edition NES Legend of Zelda w/map and inst. book. w007! :) Some of the games I traded in were from Blockbuster, and had writing and labels on them, but they still accepted them for the deal. |
so is the getaway free with 2 trade ins or 9.99? 2 people posted different answers to this.
(it seems like it should be free since that title sells for 40 new) maybe i'll trade in serious sam for xbox (got it last week for 10 bucks at EB w/ coupon) and another cheap game such as shaun palmer's pro snowboarder (9.99 @ Bestbuy i believe) for at least Devil may cry 2. unless there's any reason why these games won't work...? |
Sorry, I completely forgot that The Getaway was a $40 SCEA title.
|
Is Babages running the same promo or is this a Software Etc only deal?
|
Babbage's is running it also.
|
i would assume the getaway would be free w/ two trade ins like the resident evil games, but from the paperwork we recieved it seemed like we still require customers to pay 9.99 for it. Im not sure exactly on that one.
|
What do you mean you got DMC2? They told me I could only reserve it and would have to trade in the games the day the games are released. Was also told that its only the GC Ghost Recon that is good with that deal.
|
I mean I "got" DMC2, as in I did the trade-in deal, they gave me my pre-order stub to get my copy on the 29th. I asked about Ghost Recon, and they said all versions are available for the deal. I went ahead and got the PS2 version, which I will play later tonight.
Also, The Getaway deal does indeed charge you $9.99, even though it's $10 less than the other games. Manager said he didn't know why, but that's how it will work. |
Is funcoland running this too ? (I believe they are affiliated with Gamestop)
|
Zodo: Thanks for this awesome deal!
I traded in: Fantavision PS2 Frequency PS2 Rayman Arena PS2 Dark Summit XBOX State of Emergency PS2 Motor Mayhem PS2 and got: Devil May Cry 2 PS2 (for $9.99) The Getaway PS2 (for $0) DOA Beach V-Ball XBOX (for $9.99) I tried to ask if there were other games in the promotion but they were reluctant to say. (I already have Ghost Recon.) One of the people behind the counter made a comment about how crazy the deal was, and how someone came in earlier and gave them junky games. I almost felt bad when I pulled out State of Emergency and Fantavision. |
Thanks a lot for the deal! I usually never get in on these, or am restricted by EB's horrible exclusion list. I turned in some alright games -
Traded in Munch's Oddyssey (never played it) Zone of the Enders (2nd runner is coming soon!) Parappa the Rapper 2 (which I got really cheap) Okage (got it for $10 at KB) Got - Dead or Alive Devil May Cry 2 Thanks again! |
Do you guys know when this deal ends?
|
it ends Feb. 1. They wont take SSX as a trade, eventhough two places told me they would, a couple others said nope, grrr.
|
I just realized they charged me $14.11 for each pre-order. $9.99 plus tax (8.25%) isn't $14.11. Guess I'll get it fixed when I go get my games.
*sigh* |
My friend says he figures it's tax on the full amount of the game? Does that make sense? Was anyone else charged that? Why isn't the deal "Pay $9.99 and the tax on the full amount of the game" then?
|
It seems it's more like get $40 off the game.
$49.99 + CA Sales Tax (8.25%) = $54.11 - $40 (two game trade-in) = $14.11 So if they're all doing it this way, nobody should be paying anything except the sales tax for games priced at $39.99. |

Somethings not right about paying sales tax on the full amount. Whenever I've traded in games they give me the credit plus tax on that credit.
So for example I trade in two games at EB I get $21.20 for each game, $20 credit plus $1.20 in tax. I thought these stores were required to do that? Maybe I'm worng. |
