No problem if you have the receipt still. Buy it at EB, I bought two copies today, and return an unopened one to TRU.

You got an unopened one? I took the kids out and bought 2 of them from 2 different stores while sopping around. Both EBs opened the cases. Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't you consider an open box a used item?

Thanks for the tip. I went to my closest EB this morning - they were out, but confirmed that it was $9.99. I went to another EB across town and asked for a new copy of Buffy, and the guy pulled one out for $9.99. He then told me he also had a pre-owned copy. I asked how much and after he checked the computer, he said "Nevermind - it's $22.99".

Maybe they don't want people to take it to another store (i.e. Best Buy) and say they got it for Christmas, but want to exchange it for another title.

I always thought this was normal EB policy. Don't they open the new games for everyone?

I have never had EB open my packages. I have had Walmart do this for exchanges. But never for a new purchase. And never anywhere other than Walmart.

...uh,
This is theft and I would not recommend it. You may get away with it, but you are causing loss to the company and you are actually stealing real money. Please dont start with the "they will sell it and make their money back" nonsense either.

If you want to buy a second copy to take to Funcoland or similar, that's a different story, they take trades. But please dont take games back to a store and scam them, it ends up costing us all money.

How is this scamming? I don't agree with taking things back without a receipt, but in this case he has one. He just wants to get his money back because he found a better deal.

If anyone gets ahold of an extra copy at this price, I'll buy it from ya.

My damn EBs are sold out.

A receipt...from another store. All the posts above seem to discuss buying multiple copies at EB and returning them to Best Buy, TRU, Wal-Mart, etc. without a receipt.

Damn.

Paid $22 for a used copy last week, and shredded my receipt last night.

Oh well, used copy works great, so I can't really complain.

Congrats on the deal!

Why would EB or any other store open anyone's packages? Furthermore, why would you let them? I think that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

If anyone wants an extra copy, email me at [email protected] . I will see if my EB has any copies left. They had tons the other night.

I'm going to try tomorrow. Are they marked as such, or do I have to ask about the special price? Will they just ring up at $9.99. I'd hate to show up and have the guy behind the counter look at me like I'm on crack.

Every game I have ever bought from them has been opened, which is now a grand total of 3. You bring them the box and they go put it back on the shelf and go in the back and bring one out. The first time I bought a game from them I asked and they said they do it to all the games so I didn't go back till I heard about the buffy deal.
