EB Games and Previously Owned Hardware

Like many on this board I took advantage of the EB Games 1000th store opening coupon bonanza in August and now have store credit along with a fifty (50) dollar store voucher (from another of their deals). I do not find myself really coveting a "next gen system" (whereas Ill play one for a while over at a friends and get bored), but since more or less in Oregon the EB Games are strictly gaming establishments (lack a selection in their DVD areas) I was thinking about picking up a used Dreamcast for $40 and I was wondering what kind of condition are the units in?

I am aware they are some period of time replacement incase of a "broken" unit, but I am also wondering about the condition of the unit itself visually and controller buttons. The only time I sold a system back to a store it came with the original box and Styrofoam (heck the twist ties were still in their respective bags), I know this is a rarity, but I was hoping that some in this forum could shed some light on the conditions of previously owned hardware that EBs. Thanks.

hmmm...

I have never bought a used system from them before but if someday I get the courage to buy a use system I would buy some sort of protection warranty .

The only used system I ever bought was an SNES, in about 1994 or so. Still works fine.

If you're going to buy it in a store, I don't see why you couldn't inspect the unit first. It seems like a reasonable request.

I got my Dreamcast just a year ago at Christmas, and I'm very glad I did. I was able to get a ton of pretty decent games for a pretty low price (and it's still not difficult to find games for it).

Thanks, kar10 and ginwen for the information. I plan on stopping by an EB over the weekend and hopefully will be pleased enough to pick one (1) up. Im looking forward to the idea of picking up games for under $10 and Virtua Tennis is really calling my name.

Go to the eb retail store and buy it used and inspect it. Also im pretty sure they can test it for you while there. I know the 5 or 6 around here will. Yes we have 6 EB owned stores in less then 2 blocks. 3 in the same mall, 1 in the mall next door and a regular outside store.

My brother ordered a used PS2 through the online store because of a GTA bundle deal and when he got it the drive wouldnt come out and the front fell off. Had to send it back and it became a huge hastle so he just bought a new one from a nearby EB

I bought my Dreamcast used at EB couple years ago. Still works now. I don't remember what the warranty thing was though.
