The History of Zelda

To celebrate the release of Wind Waker, I'm gonig to journey through EVERY Zelda game, and log my progress here.

This will be the first time I've played Orcarina of Time and Majora's Mask. I will try hard this time to play them. When OoT came out, I grabbed the controller like a child and to my horror, spent about an hour talking to people instead of killing monsters. I threw the controller down in disgust and never looked back.

The Legend of Zelda:
The Adventure of Link:
A Link to the Past: Finished 12/27/02
Link's Awakening:
Orcarina of Time: Finished 02/26/03
Majora's Mask:
Oracle of Ages & Seasons: Ages 01/09/03 -> Seasons 01/16/03
Four Swords:

Wish me luck!! :D

There were 3 on the Phillips CD-i system. They are not Zelda games. Thank you drive through.

 I think we'd all like to permanently block those out of our memories and the history of zelda games.

If you couldn't stand talking int ZOOT, you likely arn't going to care for the wind waker.

mikeyboy 12-31-02 03:38 PM

Best of luck!

If I missed them, how can they not be Zelda? ;)

WillySi7 12-31-02 05:04 PM

god I cant believe you didnt continue with OoT or Majora's mask.. If you havent played them yet theyre an experience unlike anything from SNES and earlier (even though every game is excellent) I wish I was in your shoes and could play it for the first time again ;)

have fun

(this sounds like a damn Zelda fest my friends and I used to do around this time of year during break.. like 5 days of OoT, 7 hours a day.. hahahah, too much time on our hands)

Nintendo really doesn't like those games or Hotel Mario to really be remembered. They were all pretty bad, but the third Zelda game was actually decent. It just suffered from incredible bad load times.

If you give Ocarina of Time a chance, I think you'll change your mind. I've never talked to anyone who played the game for any significant length of time who didn't love it. It's one of my favorites of all time.

I Loved OoT, but I just couldn't get into Majora's Mask. I don't know why.

WillySi7 12-31-02 10:57 PM

majoras mask put that spin on the game where you're up against the clock, and even after beating the game (an excellent game at that) I was still a little doubtful about the idea.

I loved the NES Zeldas, especially 2nd.. I thought even for their time they were pretty advanced compared to others on the same platofrm. IMO though, ;)

Yeah, I think the NES Zeldas are widely loved. They're talking about some Philips CD-I games that sucked the big one.

Where those games actually created by Nintendo? For some reason I was under the impression those games were a result of Nintendo getting out of their license deal with Phillips. (For the CD add on for the SNES.)

I'll do some research. :)

 Zelda is about the only games I am capable of playing. Ive beaten either Majora's Mask or Oot. The one thats 72 hours and then begins again irritates me to no end so I quit playing it. Now Im playing A link to the past, and im about to throw my GBA out the window. (I got the first pennant, then the Ice Sword, now I have no idea what to do:D ).

But, good luck, pixyboi

Those were really great games. I can't remember if I ever even finished the 2nd one. Those 2 games and Castlevania were the only adventure games that I liked for NES. All of my other games were sports games (and Tetris).

Well I started LoZ yesterady but was distracted by other things, else I could've easily finished the first quest in one sitting. And I started Oracle of Ages for when I'm playing GB. OoT should be arriving tonight.. only problem I can see is that I've lost my copy of Link's Awakening, and I don't know anybody I can borrow Majora's Mask from.

I am supposing you mean Pendant and Ice ROD :) go to the library below Kikariko village and run into the bookcase with the pegasus shoes to get the book of mudoro. Then go the the desert (in the SW of Hyrule) and use it to open the second level. and use www.gamefaqs.com if you get stuck again.

I think that this will always and forever remain as my favorite Zelda game and indeed one of my favorite games of all time.

With the original NES Zelda a few years back, I had to play it straight through and beat it in one sitting (with continues) 'cause the batteries had died! It took me all day!!! ;)

I keep meaning to go to it, it should only take a few hours.. I'm almost finished with Oracle of Ages. Jesus, that game is a pain in the ass.

Probably not.. there's actually a GAME to play in OOT. Might not be what you're expecting.
