Splinter Cell for PS2 release date

Splinter Cell for PS2 and GameCube pre-orders are up at Amazon.com. They list March 21st, 2003 at the release date for SC on the PS2.

As for GameCube, it's listed on Amazon's search but it says "This order is either not stocked or discontinued". Most likely they just don't have a release date for it yet.

if you look at EBworld.com they have the Cube release date listed as 3/18/2002. Hopefully the cube version will be close to the graphics of the xbox version.

We can hope....hopefully it will be. Will save me the money of purchasing the Xbox for now. My PS2 and Gamecube are keeping me busy enough for the time being. :)

Djones, I'm in exactly the same boat. I was close to purchasing an XBox for Halo and Splinter Cell but since I'v already played and finished Halo while my brother loaned me his XBox I can resist buying one for just Halo. Splinter Cell would have pushed me over the edge but I'm willing to wait and see how the cube version is. If it's nowhere near as good as the xbox version, then perhaps there will be a small price drop on the XBox by march ;)

Oh man, I cant wait for this! Does anyone know if the Gamecube version will overpower the Playstation 2's (in graphics), or vise versa?

It's pretty much a certainty that the cube version will be better looking than the Ps2 version. How it will compare to the XBox version is still up in the air at this point.

The early reports that I have read is that the cube version is coming along very nicely and should match the xbox's appearance nearly identically.

Both games will ship with some/all of the extra levels found that will be made available on xbox live. However be prepaired to not get all of them.

There are rumors that the PS2 will have an exclusive level all it's own. No word on the GC version.

They are outstanding on the Xbox... :)

Ghost Recon for the PS2 received a terrible review from IGN....I hope this does not happen with the PS2 version of Splinter Cell. Anyone hear or see anything yet on the Gamecube version of Ghost Recon??? I believe it is due out in the near future. :)

I was at my brother's house today and he got Splinter Cell for his XBox this week so i got to give it a try. Graphically it's impressive. The lighting effects are very very good. I think though that the cube can handle the game pretty well (if Metroid and Rogue Leader are any indication). My guess is that the PS2 will not come anywhere near the graphics of the XBox and hopefully Cube versions, though I'm sure it will be a great looking game for the PS2. Control wise, it's going to be a doozy on the cube controller. It makes use of almost every button on the XBox controller, including the ones underneath the analog sticks. Hopefully they can adapt it to the cube controller. Gameplay seems fun but it could get frustrating after a while in certain spots. Overall though I'm really looking forward to it. Let's hope the Cube gets a good port.
Oh almost forgot, gotta love Michael Ironside(Jester from Top Gun, he was also in Total Recall) as the voice of Sam Fisher. Wasn't at all the voice i expected Sam to have but it's pretty cool,

I have seen very good reviews for the PC and Xbox versions of Ghost Recon........it is amazing how a company can totally blow porting a quality title over to another system. I am hoping the GC version will be comparable to the Xbox and PC version. Really do not want to buy that Xbox yet. :)
