Smashing... Live! (audio CD) included in Jan '03 Nintendo Power
My son just got his January 2003 (Vol. 164) issue of Nintendo Power in the mail today (LOTR on the cover). Included inside the issue was an audio CD entitled Smashing... Live!, a 15 track CD of orchestral music by the New Japan Philharmonic from the GCN game Super Smash Bros Melee. I'm listening to it right now and I have to admit it sounds really good.
It's just over 1 hour of music, and the tracks are:
1. Planet Corneria
2. Jungle Garden
3. Great Bay Shrine
4. Dr. Mario
5. Original Medley
6. Fountain of Dreams
7. Pokemon Medley
8. Opening
9. Planet Venom
10. Yoshi's Story
11. Depth of Brinstar
12. Smash Bros. Great Medley (14:18!!!)
13. Fire Emblem
14. Green Greens
15. Rainbow Cruise
Pretty decent for a bonus.

Nice find! thanks for the heads up! i've been getting this mag for free for sometime but finally something good came out of it (aside from the partial strategy guides).
this album was released earlier this year in japan and only in the Famitsu Cube Advance magazine, it goes for over $100 on eBay at that time, really wanted to get one but that was way too much for me. I have heard an audience recording of a few of the tracks, and i was very impressed, especially with how well the metroid music lends itself to an orchestrated version.

... and to clear up something that I think I should have. I'm not sure these songs are from the game itslef, or just themes for characters and their games that appear in the game. I have never played SSBMelee before so I can't say that for sure. But alot of the themes are very familiar.

I got it and was listening (thanks for that Mario Sunshine deal with sub and mem card) and I think it's actually pretty good. Always makes me want to put a system in my car to blast some Metroid music.
