First Horror/Survival game?
Is it Haunted House for the 2600?
I used to love this game, playing it on lvl 9 is tough but fun! |
If you want to talk modern I would say Alone in the Dark was the originator.

Alone in the Dark would be my pick too, though I never played it. It's genrally credited as the first survival horror game.

I would say Alone in the Dark, although the term "Surival Horror" was coined for Resident Evil.

I used to play Alone in the Dark when it first came out...excellent game.

Alone in the Dark and then came a crap game for the Sega CD called Night Trap that was one of the first.
