what is Earth & Beyond?

I surfed over to the Westwood site and ended saw a new demo is up. I followed the link to gamespy, and I see that the demo is over 1 gig large. What kind of game is this?

Massively Multiplayer Online Game. Along the same lines as Everquest, Ultima Online, etc, but more space sim than rpg.
