neat Splinter Cell moves (spoilers??)

I have a fun tip for you!!!!!!
Spoiler:
(Oil Refinery) There are barrles scattered everywhere and they make a great explosive when fired upon at the right time. Just make sure you keep your distance. Hit a switch ,that is in the level, that will start a leak from the seams, which will attract the attention of two nearby gaurds. Then quickly run around the corner behind you and fire a couple of bullets into the nearby oil barrles. Oil will pour out of the barrles. Then when the gaurds are near the oil, shoot the oil and watch as the oil explodes, taking down both gaurds in a huge ball of flame!!!!!!!!!!!!

just read that.. off to try it :D

you guys have any other great moments or clever things you've discovered that we can all try out?

Nothing like big explosions to keep you nice and stealthy. ;)

Shuki 12-04-02 11:40 AM

ah that whole place is one big explosion anyway! one additional one won't draw any further attention to mr. secret agent man... rotfl

Not again. A person is entitled to dislike a game without being called a fool. It may have just been a joke, but we already had a few problems with people taking a disagreement over Splinter Cell a little bit too far and making it personal. Let's not start that over again... thanks.

I have a question about splinter cell... may as well put it here.

On the level where you are at the CIA offices. I get the information regarding the mole from the computer.

After I leave there, I pass the anti-static room, and an alarm immediately goes off and I lose. I don't see anyone to set the off or anything. What am I doing wrong?

Static Cling 12-04-02 10:41 PM

Hey! What's wrong with static? :( Why does there need to be an anti-me room in that game?

So, a little off topic, but I'd like to know the answer. I haven't played Splinter Cell very much, but I'm almost done with the first mission. I'm loving this game, so someone please tell me it gets longer! :).

Applejack - you need to hide the bodies better. Either go back or just start the level over again making sure to hide all bodies in darkest place possible and tuning out the lights (if possible). Otherwise the alarm will sound later in the game.

Shawn - there are 9 levels in the game. I too wanted to get the most out of SC so I set it on HARD from the beginning. I'm now on level 7 (9 levels in all) and I've put in over 40 hours of gameplay. If it seems its going by too quickly for you, put that baby on hard setting and give it a go :)

I really want to love this game, but the gameplay isn't doing it for me. I keep coming back to it hoping that I'm just around the corner from getting hooked.

I'm in the early parts of the CIA level. I'm in a dark room exploring. There are some computers around, but none are on. Suddenly the door opens and a guard busts me. Game over. Reload. OK, this time I'll immediately move to the side of the door and grab the guard. Nope, he enters the room and immediately turns to his right, which happens to be where I am. Game over. At that point, I decided to play Ghost Recon.

What am I missing? It just seems to be a series of "uh oh, I now know not to do that next time" events.

Shuki 12-05-02 08:18 AM

stay in the shadows so as not to be seen.

beat him to the light switch and kill the lights.

shoot out the lights before he comes in.

then pull a wild bill on him sort of silence of the lambs style and take him out :D

Gromit 12-05-02 08:31 AM

I forgot to mention that I did switch the lights out prior to the door opening.

I think I'm just not quick enough to make the right moves before getting busted.

Centurion 12-05-02 11:07 AM

Don't forget that Sam can also knock-out the baddies without having to first grab them. Creep up to one and hit the Right Trigger button from either crouched or standing positions.

Just make sure you don't do this to someone you need to interrogate. :)
