XBox Live Question

I have a cable modem, which takes care of the broadband requirement for XBox Live. However, I was wondering if there was there anything you could buy to allow both the XBox and the computer to be connected at the same time? Thanks.

You could buy a hub or router.

I got a Linksys BEFSR41 Router last week for the very same reason. Very easy to set up and it works great.

Go to http://www.linksys.com and lookup that partnumber Dreamweaver88 posted.

Basically, you connect your cablemodem into this BroadBand Router, then plug your computer and Xbox into the Router. This lets you use a single BroadBand connection over multiple machines.

For a wireless route, check out this thread I made the other day:

Thanks for the help. However, I'm not sure I could bring myself to buy a $75 router. I'm wondering if this iPAQ 4-Port Cable/DSL Broadband Router could work instead? Is there a downside to buying a cheaper router? Thanks.

Here is a list of recommended routers from the XBox site:

I would suggest sticking with one of the ones on the list, but if Radio Shack will let you return the one you posted about (if it doesn't work), I'd give it a shot.

You could always setup Win ICS, and all you need is a windows PC with a second NIC card installed.

Yeah, I'll have to make sure I can (return it). And if so, there's no harm in trying it. Thanks!

I may just go with a recommended router. TigerDirect.com has the Belkin 4 Port Cable/DSL Router listed on Xbox.com for $40 after mail-in rebate. It's probably a better bet than that iPAQ.
