X-Com on Windows XP?
OK, DVDTalkers have never let me down before. I have this friend who is going frantic. His all time favorite game is the original X-Com. He just upgraded to an all new 2.X Ghz, Windows XP system. He has this old Windows 95 copy of X-Com but can't get it to work. I told him that soem older games may not play with XP, but he is not satisfied. He's talking about partitioning his drive with 98.
Is there anything he can do? Is there a patch, or at least somewhere we can start looking? I told him this forum might have the answers. Thanks guys. |
Does he happen to have a nVidia video card? If so he needs to disable directdraw acceleration in DirectX. There should be a file called dxtool that he can use to disable it. I made mine work this way. I'm gald to know people are still playing one of my all time favorites.

Yes, he does have an nVida card. How would I explain over the phone to him disabling directdraw acceleration in DirectX?
Thanks |
