Halo 2 release date at posted local EB

Whether or not this is accurate, EB had a sign up on one of their game demo system calling for a June 3, 2003 release date for Halo 2. I was in there picking up my Spiderman DVD and they had it written on the screen of their xbox demo. I asked the guy who worked there if this was legit and he said that they (EB) were told that was the latest "Tentative date". Anybody else here this. I thought it was going to be aroung Novemember '03

EB is the devil. :)

(regardless.. it's way too early to have any kind of solid release date)

edit: oops. EB is alright. Gamestop is the devil. my bad.

I think it's a policy of stores like EB and Gamestop to have at least one completely false release date on their list. Halo 2 is now that game.

Both Microsoft and Bungie have said the game will be out November of 2003. Don't believe a store like EB just because they throw up a release date. They lie straight out of their asses about that kind of stuff.

EB and Gamestop aren't the same guy wearing different t-shirts?

Come to think of it.. I think you're right.. the only difference I think is that EB has more dumb anime toys.

Well actually I should know better. I worked at EB a long time ago. I remember getting an updated release list every week and some games were not even close to being near the date listed. However, I can say that EB would not intentionally put out a product before it's street date or break any other agreement that would risk any relationships with vendors or publishers. So, I would argue that they did not dream up this date. Either it is an error or someone from MS/Bungie gave them that date. I can't speak for the wisdom of the individual store managers however. Like in all retail operations sometimes managers go out on a limb. For all I know this guy might have pulled it off a message board.

No. All EB and Gamestop stores are listing Halo 2 as a Spring 2003 release. It's the same on their websites.

EB are funny.

Halo 2 is the game MS hopes will get all the "first wave" Xbox Live users, who's free year will be over in Nov. 2003, to start paying for the Xbox Live service. Online Halo 2 will be MS biggest draw for it's Xbox Live pay service.
