N.U.D.E. Xbox

From Gamespy's coverage of the Tokyo Game Show...

N.U.D.E. (Natural Ultimate Digital Experiment) (Xbox)

Using a microphone, players nurture a robot with virtually no intellect to a point where she can communicate with a rich range of emotions. In this title, players can turn a cohabiting communication doll into their very own beautiful robot.

I like that idea a lot.

Jackskeleton 10-12-02 04:46 AM

Reminds me of CHOBITS.

Trigger 10-12-02 04:55 AM

Reminds me of Seaman for the Dreamcast, but much much cooler since you don't have to look at an ugly fish and you don't have to listen to Leonard Nimoy.

Jackskeleton 10-12-02 06:11 AM

Looks very nice in graphics. One wonders if someone would get TOO addicted to this though.

cubanx 10-12-02 07:09 AM

Sweet it's voice commands so your hands are free....lol

wildcatlh 10-12-02 07:19 AM

Going for the "plays so many video games they have no chance of ever having human female companionship" gamer market, I see. :)

darkside 10-12-02 11:18 AM

Seen this genre before many times in Japan. The N64 had a really good game that was like this (can't remember the name) and depending on what you had the robot do and say it would effect how she would learn.

NeonGlow 10-12-02 01:13 PM

The title of the N64 game was called Wonder Project J. Not sure about the publisher, but I think it was released by Enix.

Tigger 10-12-02 01:22 PM

Somehow I see "Comic Book Guy" from The Simpsons taking credit for Design and Development for this game.

See, that makes it much less cool in my book :p Still an interesting idea for a game though..

Ok the rest of you Pervs, who besides me wonders what she looks like naked? I mean hell, they gave her some pretty big boobs to be just an innocent little robot.

cubanx 10-12-02 11:56 PM

Got Hentai?

;)

I think she is already nude. Just because she looks like a chick, doesn't mean they gave her all the parts. seems like the chest, like the knee caps are all blue design

There was a tiny blurb on this game in this month's GameInformer... It's coming out in Japan first - let's hope it does well enough for them to bring it over here. :)

Yet another entry of the long line of A.I. based games that are impressively coded and not a damn bit of fun to play.

Trigger 11-27-02 03:52 PM

I found a video on a french site...

Here's a link:

Oh yeah - it said in the video that it's coming out next Spring. :D

McHawkson 11-27-02 04:24 PM

Only voice command? What a **** crap.... They should've thought it if there's hearing impaired who wanted to play....

Trigger 11-27-02 04:29 PM

Well... they sell music CDs and hearing impaired don't complain... They also sell music headphones and deaf people don't complain. Lots of things are sold on a daily basis that deaf people are excluded from using... maybe this game will have subtitles so they can play - not all deaf people talk like helen keller.

It's not like an action game - I'm sure you'll do some things with your controller, but most of this will be interaction between you and this A.I. person via voice communication.

McHawkson 11-27-02 04:32 PM

Music and game are completely different. We don't care for music.

Trigger 11-27-02 04:44 PM

"We" as in you are hearing impaired? Ahh... well let me take my foot out of my mouth long enough to say "that's a bummer"... I guess you didn't play Seaman for the Dreamcast either. It's the same thing basically where you communicate through a microphone. Would it help you if there were subtitles? There are alot of games that rely heavily on sound, but very few that rely solely on it like this game. I mean, people born with one arm are excluded from playing games like Halo (unless they get really good at circle strafing while pulling the trigger with their foot) and Tony Hawk. (If you write back and say you only have one arm too - I'm gonna jump in front of a bus). :)

My best friend's parents are both deaf and they like listening to music - well, his father does... he likes to 'feel' it I guess. So not all hearing impaired people don't care for music. I used to work at that telephone relay service... do they still have that? The one here in AZ got shut down or something.

McHawkson 11-27-02 04:55 PM

Yeah, I intended to avoid many games that required hearing or voice communition.

But as for FPS, I do play it since it heavily rely on hearing. But if you seen me playing MOH:AA, you'll be very surprised how good I play without sound.

There's so many games out there that we can play without sound. For RPG, it's tough because when you buy the game, you pray that it comes with subtitle text, if not, I'm sucker.

As for music, I don't understand music or "feel". I felt the music and it's all same vibration and I can't tell what's different between guitar or harp. Not many of my friends cared for music.

Relay service in CA still running. But there's a new relay service for nation (I think), you dial "711" and you'll get relay service.

Trigger 11-27-02 05:08 PM

So it sounds like you were born without hearing... my friend's father lost it when he was young and his mother was born without it I think. That might be the difference.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if you're good at MOH or Halo or any other FPS. :) I don't see being deaf as all that much of a handicap - it just means there's a few things that you can't make use of... like, for instance - I don't have female anatomy, so I can't make use of tampons. No biggie. :)

That's cool that there's a national relay service - I thought it might be going bye bye with the internet getting so big and all making it easy to communicate through text messaging.

This game (and this is just a guess) probably won't have subtitles unfortunately... just based on the nature of it, it seems like it's just going to be alot of talking to an artificial person. Perhaps if this game had been born in the States rather than Japan, they would've offered up a text version where you could get a keyboard for it. In some Asian countries, human defects or injuries or impairments are seen as weaknesses and the general population seems to treat them pretty poorly... things are changing though, so maybe there's hope.
