XBOX plus 2 free games & S Controller has been confirmed!

http://www.dragon.ca/sale/feature.htm

GET 2 FREE GAMES w XBOX CONSOLE - A $100 VALUE
---------------------------------------------------------
For a limited time, when you buy an XBox console, you'll
get 2 games absolutely free. Each game is regularly
priced at US*$49.95 (Cdn$83.95) so the combined value of
this offer is US*$99.90 (Cdn$167.90).

In addition, the regular XBox controller has been upgraded
to the new and improved S Controller for the XBox at no
additional charge.

And this offer doesn't even involve a mail-in rebate or
coupons of any kind. You just pay the same price you
would pay to buy the basic XBox Console: US$199.95
(Cdn$327.95).

At the present time details are unclear whether this is
a limited time offer or if quantities will be limited.
We have received a reasonable sized shipment, but no
indication if we will be able to restock this item after
the initial shipment is gone.

We don't believe there will be a better offer to buy an
XBox this year.

NOTE: Around this time of year, magazines and consumers
often speculate on a price drop for consoles before the
holiday season. In light of the huge price drop earlier
this year, it is our very carefully considered opinion
that we will not see another price drop this year.

[Our reasoning? In the past, a price drop has always
been preceded by a drying up of supply. Manufacturers
try and ensure that vendors' inventory is depleted or
extremely low so that they don't have to price-protect
those vendors. At the present time, there is absolutely
no shortage of supply.]

Well it's been confirmed by a dealer at least and they are taking orders.

I forgot to put the price in the title. Could a moderator please insert the $199.95 price into the title, please?

Thanx Chris

Well, this finally justifies me dropping the money on it. I'm gonna have to wait until it gets sold in the US, I always worry about ordering stuff from Canada..

Here's some more confirmation!

http://www.gamepro.com/index.html?/m...ws/26580.shtml

Xbox/Sega Bundle Happening
10-OCT-02
Rumors have been spreading far across the net these past few days about a new Xbox hardware bundle coming out later this month. While Microsoft themselves isn't publicizing this too much, we've been able to confirm that, starting early next week, the new Xbox package is indeed hitting stores across America. (Yes, we know we called this "a bunch of junk" a week ago. We were terribly misinformed. Sorry.)
The new bundle, which launches in some stores as early as October 15, will include your basic Xbox console, one Controller S (that's right, an S—not that regular big honker), and a disc containing the full versions of Jet Set Radio Future and Sega GT 2002. All this for a mere $199.99. In other words, if you subtract the current retail price of the two games from the bundle, you're basically getting an Xbox with Controller S for $110. Goodness me.

Most of the major game chains we talked to this morning are already taking reserve orders for this Sega-box package, so it may be a wise idea to visit the shops today and plunk down your advance. Indeed, if you've been thinking about joining the realm of black and green recently, this could be the best (and cheapest) way to take the plunge before Christmas. Yes.

Oh crap

With Buffy out recently and a few other games I've really thought aout getting one. I've never had more than one system at a time but it's very tempting at this price. I'ts more than my wife and I agreed to spend on X-mas gifts for each other but i might have to convince her it's worth it.

She hates when she actually sees a game she wants and I have to break it to her that it's not on PS2.

Update:
She told me that I could charge it since I've been working my butt off lately. Got the bundle and Buffy.
Never thought I'd own one but for this price I have to have it.

Today I went in to EB and put down a $5 deposit on the bundle. The clerk said that I could pick it up on the 15th. Also, I checked in at Target and they said that the bundle was coming soon (she would know more on monday). She mentioned that there's a Gamecube bundle coming sometime soon as well.

and I bet a PS2 bundle to follow

couldn't you save an additional 10% off that price by applying for the Target credit card netting the XBox down to $180.

The Gamecube one was a system, memory card, and Mario Sunshine for 190 if I'm not mistaken.

That's correct.

I think MS is making a mistake by not including Halo in the bundle. Nintendo's putting out a bundle with their best game in hopes of building a user base, MS should do the same.

A bundle with Halo would sell better than this one with Jet Set Future and Sega GT.

But it's still a great deal for those interested in those two games, it just doesn't seem like the best choice of games to entice Joe Six Pack to pick the bundle up at wal-mart.

Actually, (I'm probably in the minority here) JSRF and Sega Gt 2002 are the deciding factor for me. I am so so bad at FPS games, and I've played Halo and won't buy it.

This is a deal and a half. So pretty much we're getting the XBOX, the 2 games, the S controller AND the DVD playback kit (w/ mail-in rebate) for $200? Wow.

Also, I read somewhere that the two games won't have the normal packaging so people can't go to the stores with a sealed game and trade it in for store credit or whatever....this true? 'Cause while Sega GT looks alright, I couldn't care about JSRF.

Anyways, a good deal. How long is this going on for? Also, is the XBOX a good DVD player? Better than the PS2 at least? 'Cause I need a freakin' new DVD player while I'm at it.

The Xbox DVD playback is slightly better then the PS2, but still lags behind most stand alone units in visual quality and certain features. If you don't already own a nice DVD player, it will probably be to your satisfaction. You can't beat the price.

A bundle with a Mature title, Josh? Very unlikely. I don't think you'll ever see a console with just one choice of bundle including a mature game. Maybe if you saw, for example, a 'sports' one and a 'racing' one on the shelf to choose from, along with a bundle including Halo, then it would be possible.

As it stands, this Sega bundle is the only one, and according to press reports, they're going to make either one or two million of these. It looks like an Xbox pack-in could be here to stay. I'd be surprised to see 'naked' Xboxes for sale once the current supply is gone.

What features are missing? I've been using my DVD player on Dell 8100 (WinDVD and InterActual) until that crapped out, so will the XBOX be any worse or any better than that?
