Thief 1 and 2
Hey everybody
I just bought Thief I and Thief II, and I was wondering something. Should I play through 1 first, or should I just skip to 2. Are there any important plot points in 1 that would make me play it first? Thanks -Maneesh |
Well the second one starts off where the first ends, and there are a few references to the first in the second, but for the most part, it's no big deal if you skip the first one. I did ;)

Hey, which one do you guys think is better?

I prefer Thief 1.

if you want to play them both, then play them in order. But if you think you will tire of it and not finish anyway, then go with 2. Also, playing 2 first might spoil you graphically and may make it more difficult to go back and play 1 :p

I played Thief and loved it. I still have not played Thief 2, though. My roomate has played both. He loves the series and keeps telling me that Thief 2 is even better than the original. You can always play the first one on Easy difficulty and then play the second one at your "regular" difficulty. Just an idea.

Theif 2 is a better game, hands down. The stealth aspects are much improved upon, and there's less of an emphasis on the supernatural crap found in the first game.

In a pseudo-medieval game world, (albeit with some advanced technologies, like electrical lighting), I will take zombies and ghosts and rat-men over robots that shoot grenades/cannons at you. But the level design in Thief 2 is quite good, (especially in the patched version - they fixed a lot of things that made the game scream "RUSHED"), the fog is nice. Basically, if they would just add more Hammerites and ditch the robots, my opinion of T2 would be much higher.
