who remembers Smash TV?
i loved that video game... used to w/ a friend of mine at the school arcade. it had a sequel but i forgot what it was called. it was ok but we never got into it. i guess that new ps2 game is in the same vein but it sucks b/c i couldn't see where i was going while shooting in another direction.
anyway, does anyone collect old arcade video game machines? or will i get sick of it real quick...

I think the sequel was called Total Carnage, or something to that affect. There was a Super Smash TV for the SNES, although I think it was just a port of the arcade game. You can get Smash TV on one of the arcade collection discs for the PS. I forgot which one, but it's one of the later ones. I think it's called the Smash Pack. Around a year or so ago my friend and I just sat down with the game and beat it (thanks to unlimited continues). Stupid fun.

Smash TV is awesome.
We played the heck out of the arcade version in college, then when the SNES version came out, I bought it the first day and we played that everyday for 6 months. Great game.

There's a homemade game for the Dreamcast called SmachDC I believe. It's a port of Smash Tv, but all the characters are replaced with Mega Man people. I have yet to try it, but its supposed to be one of the best homemade games out there.

This game was da'bomb
I collect real arcade games, and every once in awhile I see one at a game auction. The suprising thing is that they dont sell for large amounts of money (usually). If I ever see a cherry one, I am going to pick it up for myself.
Going to the first big game auction of the year this saturday. I will report back if I see one

That game was so awesome, though I liked Total Carnage more because I played it first(Orcus, The Mother of All Bosses, that was the first time in arcade history I went "HOLY SH*T!"). Some day when I have the money, I will have both of those arcades, and plenty of others....

Both Smash TV and Robotron were some of the greatest arcade games. I loved the games that used two joysticks (on for control and one for firing). Few games really got you as frantic as these two.

i saw a computer board on ebay for smash tv, but i have no idea what you need for it...
thanks for the info on the smash tv game for the ps1... definitely look for that!
yeah, loved robotron, smash tv - and probably would have liked total carnage if we played it more. the ps2 game - state of emergency - did not impress me at all.
there are arcade machine auctions??? where?

I am adding a second joystick for each player on my MAME cabinet I am slowly building specifically for this game.
I love me some SmashTV. It's pretty playable with the keyboard as well.

I remember it, but I don't think I remember even playing it. I think when this came out I wasn't into video games anymore. I didnt' get back into video games until Doom came out. It was Atari and hanging out at the Arcades... then nothing... then it was my Apple2gs and games like Thexder and Roadwar2000... then nothing... then Sega Game Gear and a bit of Sega Genesis... then nothing... then Doom and PC gaming for a long time and now I'm back into consoles with the 50 dollar Dreamcast and my Xbox that my girlfriend bought me. I missed the whole Smash TV thing somewhere in there. I do remember people talking about it. I remember asking them what it's about or what it's like and their answers left me more confused than before.

Apocalypse on the PSX (starring Bruce Willis) was a fun entry into this genre... dual-joystick killin', that is.
Worth checking out if you were a Smash TV fan, I say.
