Anyone else get the MadCatz PS2 memory Card expander?

I bought the memory card expander from Wal Mart for $12, not really understanding what it is. I thought it would increase the memory capacity of my card to 16MB, but instead, it sort of functions like another memory card, with a completely seperate cache of 8mb of memory. It's not terrible, but not what I expected. Since it's sort of cumbersome and a hassel to use, I'm just using it as an extra card to save old game files, but it's bigger than a memory card and more difficult to easily store. Does anyone else have one of these things? How reliable are they; I'm debating on whether I should keep it.

And BTW, why is it that almost every game is totally unaware of the second memory card slot and will only read game files from slot 1? I think I had better results retreiving files from slot 2 on the PS1.

Do you have to load drivers everytime you want to use it? I have an interact card that I bought a while back and it needs drivers loaded everytime you use it. I stopped using it as even a backup because the thing lost 2 or 3 files I transferred to it.

no, nothing like that. Basically it functions just like a seperate memory card, but requires a memory card be plugged into it after you plug it into the memory card slot. Once you do that, you can't use that memory card to access its save until you unplug the expander from the slot and put the memory card back in. It's sorta weird, but there's no formatting, no new drivers and it leaves the original memory card intact.

ps: go Colts ;)
