hooking up X-Box to DD Reciever....HOW?
so I have my DD reciever, my X-Box, my Advanced AV Cable, and my optical cable...now I am confused on how to hook it all up...HELP
|
Do you have your DD receiver manual? Have you tried reading the manual? Think of the X-Box as a device similar to a DVD player... there should be directions in the manual about hooking a DVD player to the receiver.
And if you use vB code in your sig, it'll look normal instead of looking like HTML soup. |
well actually I should say it's one of those home theater in a box thingies....got it as a gift actually....I was hoping I could hook it up though here because it's Dolby Digital and stuff (sorry I am kinda stupid at home theater and stuff)

You need the advanced AV pack, and an Optical audio cable.

So... there's no manual?

Just reiterating what they said...
You have an Advanced AV pack and an optical cable. Your receiver has to have an optical input. Some of the lower end receivers do not have an optical input. If not, you'll have to get a converter. Last, but not least remember to turn on the 5.1 setting on your Xbox. Good luck. |

thanks, I really appreciate the help...cool thing is my parents don't care if I have the DD blareing at 3 in the morning :)
Originally posted by Trigger The Advanced AV cable connects to your Xbox only one way... From there, hook up an S-Video cable from the Advanced AV pak to your TV. It should go on an "in" on the back of your TV. Then (optional), you can connect some RCA cables from the AV pak to the audio "in" on the back of your TV - I'm talkin about the cable that's a pair of wires with a red and a white on both ends... this will allow you to hear games on your TV without having your stereo on for when it's super late and people are sleeping... shhh. Then you connect the optical cable from the Advanced AV pak to your receiver's optical "in". If you know you have optical "in"s on your receiver, but you can't find them - that's because they probably have a peg in them to make sure they don't get dirt in them. The pegs look like little plastic lego man legs... just pull the peg out to expose the hole that you stick the optical wire in. YOu also have to take the little clear plastic cover off the end of the optical cable first. The optical connection on your AV pak should look like a little doggy door. Once it's hooked up, you switch your receiver to whatever device your optical "in" is labeled (probably DVD) and then you're all set. Questions? |
