That was pretty sick.

For those of you who aren't downloading it yet cuz Tball didn't say what the hell it was... it's a video of this Japanese dude who totally owns on this arcade game. It is pretty sick... worth a download.

happypants 08-24-02 11:50 AM

What game is that? Looks like a frequency type game on crack. No way I could keep up at that rate!!

Lampei 08-24-02 12:01 PM

That was crazy!

Yeah sorry about that. I try not to tell people what is behind the link. No spoiled surprises.

That guy is sick.

discostu1337 08-24-02 12:36 PM

one word: WOW

Thunderball 08-24-02 12:53 PM

the only thing I can think of, is this is like that guy who memorized the Whammy pattern back in the 80s.

Maybe he's a piano player, and the board is set up like a piano, with the top row being the black keys and the bottom being the white keys?
Who knows.
Still cool as ****

Gallant Pig 08-24-02 09:13 PM

Notice he only got 3rd place. :D

Also notice he was #1-5 in the high score list.

Trigger: The way he moves his hands at times really looks like he's playing the piano, so your theory is a distinct possibility.

Static Cling 08-24-02 09:25 PM

I've never seen this game, either. And I don't think any piano skills would translate much to this game... hitting keys with your fingers and slamming buttons with your hands is fairly different. :) The buttons aren't set up like a piano, either... there are at least four equally spaced buttons in the top row. If they were meant to be like black keys, there would only be three before a larger space. Plus, an octave of piano keys, including white and black keys, would equal thirteen buttons... looks like there's only nine on the game.

I've played that piece before (on piano, not that video game)... I know no one cares, but it's Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca from his Sonata in A.

Wazootyman 08-24-02 09:29 PM

I'd like to see him playing that game where you stick the finger up an ass... that'd be interesting

I could have sworn I heard some Fur Elise in there as well.

Gallant Pig 08-25-02 02:32 AM

I thought part of it was the 3rd part of moonlight sonata but what do I know?

Static Cling 08-25-02 07:31 AM

You know, I think you guys are right... it may be more of a hodge-podge of classical music. There is definitely some Fur Elise in there... not sure about Moonlight Sonata. Guess I jumped the gun in identifying it just from the little bit that stuck out in my head.

tylerwillis 08-25-02 11:45 AM

Alright, that's cool... what's the estimate on the time/yen spent achieving that?

Aghama 08-25-02 11:49 AM

There's also a video for the game "sync" floating around that's almost as impressive. If anyone has a quick connection I can send it over IM.

Gallant Pig 08-25-02 12:04 PM

I'm pretty sure the piece changes to the 3rd part of the moonlight at around 26 seconds in and then breaks out into Fur Elise? at 45 or so seconds in.

Static Cling 08-25-02 04:38 PM

You're probably right... I probably only know the more familiar parts of Moonlight Sonata... you know, the one they played in Thexder (anyone remember that Transformer-type game from Sierra waaaaay back in the day)? :)

BigDave 08-25-02 04:47 PM

Moving to music forum. ;)

Pretty cool little video.

 I traded my 3 1\2" Ultima 4 discs for my friends 5 1\4" Thexder disc loooong ago. Never could get past the level with all the diamond things that went after you. DangstupidhunterseekerAI.

Static Cling 08-25-02 06:43 PM

I REMEMBER THAT LEVEL! :) Glad I'm not the only one who remembers this game.
