What happened to Vectorman!?
I was just re-playing some Vectorman on the Sega Smash Pack for Dreamcast..
What happened to this guy?! Vectorman 1 and 2 were awesome for Sega Genesis! I have been longing for a Vectorman 3 for a while now.. a Vectorman 3 in 3d would be awesome, alot of possibilites.. a third Vectorman side scroller would be amazing, however... I can't even imagine what this game would have looked like on Dreamcast, or on XBox today. -Jim |
What about Strider for that matter?
|
Strider was awesome. It was advertised as being the first 8-Meg cartridge. It was expensive as well and was around 75 dollars.
How about a new Streets of Rage or Thunderforce? |
Streets of Rage X is coming to Xbox with full Xbox live capabilites.
I will look for a link to the story and post if I can find it again. |
Well see, I have seen more talk of Strider and SOR and Thunderforce from people and websites..
but NO ONE ever mentions Vectorman!! This game couldnt be that expensive to make, as Blue Sky is probably making educational software somewhere these days.. Vectorman 3 would be amazing... Also.. What ever happened to Alex Kidd!!!! |
ALex Kidd!!! I'll be rock....
|
They had like 4 or 5 Alex Kidd games on SMS, then Sonic comes and steals his thunder..
You would think SEGA wouldn't forget about a guy who successfully made it through 4 sequels.. -Jim |
What ever happened to the Chaken sequel?
|

What about that fantastic light gun gangster game? That was rad*.
*-rad being the parlance of time it was released |
Vectorman was there to compete with the 3-D rendered Donkey Kong, and he lost. Rather then attempt to recreate him in true 3-D, and fail. Becasue even though a lot of people bought Sonic Adventure it doesnt mean it was any good. They let Vectorman gather dust. Sad isnt it?
:p just a lil sarcasm. |
he joined all the has been game characters.
|
yeah I think he's dead
|
Well I wouldn't say he lost to Donkey Kong, as I didnt see them in a race nor did I care. They were completely different games, one being a platformer shooter, the other a over-rated graphical platformer with bananas.
I loved Vectorman 1 and 2, and I think Vectorman 1 actually did very well in terms of sales. Whether it did or not, I liked it and think they should have continued it... They both got good ratings, and both were very well received by SEGA fans and shooter/platformer fans alike. Still don't see how he "lost"... |

Well to be fair, Sega recycles even its successful characters (Golden Axe, Altered Beast) far less than Nintendo's obscure ones (Star Fox anyone?). :)
BTW: speaking of that big ape, when is Donkey Kong Racing coming out? |
Vectorman's whole gimmick was to compete with the pre-rendered 3D games, wasn't it? Now that everyone actually uses polygons, it's kinda pointless unless they want to go retro with it. In which case, it's sorta been done already by that raver slash Sega Producer guy who made a musical Tron-esque on-rails shooter.
|
It's gimmick was the pre-rendered balls that made up his body, but even without that, it was a good game.. Very fun.
They can keep him made of the balls or whatever he was made of, either in 3d or 2d, I Dont care.. -Jim |
