How many songs can the X-Box hard drive hold? (for soundtrack...)
I have 21 songs right now, all average 4 minute or so songs, and in the memory section it still has 50,000+ blocks left, as if I haven't even used memory yet!!! Is the Xbox hard drive THAT gargantuan? the songs are of good quality, and I guess it is an 8 GB hard drive (?). So my question is, how many songs can this puppy hold? And how many songs do all of you have on your X-Box, because I find this a very cool feature :)

Right now I have just over 200 songs on my box. FOr some reason it still says that I have 50,000 blocks though. Not sure what the heck is going on with that.
They need a keyboard so that you can type the title of the song in that way. Using the controller is getting old to name them all. |
my friends had dozens of albums ripped to the hd and it never went below the 'over 50,000' mark

I read somewhere that you can store over a 1,000 songs (depending on length) before it will go below 50,000+, it is a great idea to have a hard drive instead of using memory cards. (If though you can still use them if you wish)

I read on a Xbox site that you could have the 1st 70 titles and 73 hours of music on an Xbox hard drive. Also that the hard drive is about 319,000 blocks worth or memory.
Currently, I have about 450 songs and they just total cover 93,000 blocks. |
Personally, I hope that all future consoles have a hard drive...it's just such a great feature. :)

Roughly - 1 GB = 24 hours of music. So, you could fit 8 days worth of music on your Xbox hard drive.

that's a WHOLE lot of music on a console. And yes I LOVE this feature :)

Just the music storage feature is worth the price of the Xbox alone.
Just think what people are missing out on, not owning one. I wonder if future Xbox consoles will allow you to store your DVD movies on larger HD's. They could incorporate some kind of copying fee to overide the Macrovision in the price of the console. Being able to put my DVD collection on an Xbox HD would be great. |
I heard somewhere that the hard drive was partitioned where you save your games and where you save your music are in different partions. Sounds right but I'm not sure.
