Battlefield 1942
 

Just got done playing Battlefield 1942 (the demo by PCGAMER). I have to admit it looks pretty nice. I like the idea of a singlplayer game with random acts (its just one big battle). I do think they made the tanks a little too hard though. Does anyone know if this is going to cost each month to play it? I think t could be as big as half life if they wouldn't charge.

When is the release date?

In all of the previews that I've read so far, I haven't seen anything with respect to paying a fee to play the game.

EB says the release date is 9/4/2002 (take that with a grain of salt).

I hope the date is right. MOHAA was great and I'm counting on 1942 to be at least as good.........

I played the demo too... decent. I thought the tanks were easy enough to control - helluva lot easier than they would be in real life. Anyway - it was fairly fun, but I kinda wish they would hurry up and come out with a new FPS with a good story. :) C'mon DNF, Doom3 and DX2...

Just thought I'd let you all know that a patched version of the SP demo has been released that has Wake Island imported from the beta. With Wake Island comes new vehicles, including planes (Corsair!).

Off the top of my head, I can't remember where I downloaded it from, but if anybody is interested I'll find it and post a link.

I was going to ask about this game. I'm glad to hear it's shaping up to be decent. Any news of an MP demo coming out? For some reason, I can't really stand playing fps games single player, Deus Ex being the sole exception.
