Blast my mighty 56k connection, a video viewin i will not be doing. But wow, I thought this game was pretty when I saw a preview in oxm, but those hi res pics are mighty nice. I've never played panzer before (didn't own a saturn) but it seems like panzer orta will be a good one to start with.

Holy lord... those FMV sequences are outstanding. I don't know why I glazed over this one at E3... there was just so much to see there, ya know. I've never played a Panzer Dragoon game - only game I've played that looks at all similar is Drakan (for the PC). What type of game is this? Looks like Final Fantasy cut scene story progression with aerial assault action shooter type "gameplay"...

If Panzer Dragoon Orta is like the first two in the series, you have cut scenes to move the story along, and then you take control of the dragon. You use the shoulder buttons to move the viewpoint left or right and the dpad to move your aiming crosshairs. The dragon has a series of lasers in reserver, so you can lock on to many enemies and then let loose the lasers. You also have a quick firing gun that is weak but necessary to take out large crowds of enemies.

A highlight of the series is the Aztec/Inca influenced music, score adapting to the action. French artist Moebius created many of the character designs.

This review of Panzer Dragoon Saga also talks a bit about the older parts of the series (Panzer Dragoon, Panzer Dragoon Zwei), and why they're great:

That gamespot review is closed to the public. Oh well. Thanks for the links. I'll hope for a demo on an OXM disc so I can try before I buy.
