Dreamcast and UP

Hey.
Okay, here's my story. So far in my life,I've had the following systems :
Sega Master System
Super Nintendo
Nintendo 64
Sega Dreamcast(have most of the best games)

I'm thinking about getting a PS2 or XBOX from EB. I had a game on the PS2 the other day(NHL something i believe) and BOY was I ever impressed. The graphics were awesome(though NOT THAT much better than DC). I haven't played Xbox. What do you folks recommend? I haven't even considered getting a Gamecube. I like sports games(basketball, baseball, hockey and the nfl blitz series mostly),action(goldeneye, perfect dark),thrillers(rez. evil, etc) and driving(test drive,MSR). What system do you recommend? Thanks!

If you are by far more interested in sports than anything else, get an XBox. If you like the other genres you listed just as much (action, thrillers) then it's a toss up between the XBox and PS2. But if sports are you cake the XBox is probably the best system for you. Most of the good sports games are on all the systems, but the XBox versions are the best graphically and aurally. And then there is the HDD which allows for larger saves (statistics, franchises) and ripping music.

If you like sports:

PS2 has:
EA
Sega Sports
989 Sports

XBox has:
EA
Sega Sports
Microsoft Studios

EA and Sega Sports will do the same things on XBox as they do on PS2 except with better graphics, sound, HD save, etc. SegaSports will also use the Xbox Live, and most likely EA will eventually use it too.

Microsoft Studios sports games kill 989 Sports games, and are generally comparable to EA/Sega Sports games. NFL Fever 2003 is looking to be quite a football game.

World Series Baseball (the premier series in baseball games) is also Xbox exclusive.

If you don't have a friend who owns an Xbox, try renting one for a few days. Be sure to get Halo, Project Gotham Racing (since you like MSR) or Rallisport Challenge and World Series Baseball. If those don't convince you that you need an Xbox, I don't know what will.

If you like fighting games you might want to check out Dead or Alive 3. The graphics are awesome.

It really depends on what you want. Take a look at what is out there for the PS2 and the XBox and what is coming out. Personally, the XBox while having amazing graphics/sound, doesn't have many games I want. The PS2 has a bunch as does the Gamecube. However, this is a totally personal thing so it's up to you to decide. Both consoles have great games in all categories so you should base your decision on exclusives.

If you like roleplaying games, Morrowind is something you should check out for the Xbox.

There have been tons of "what system do I buy?" threads. Please do a search, and you'll find them.
