Excessive Xbox controller vibration?

Last night I made it to the point in Halo where you get to drive the Scorpion (the tank, maybe I have the name wrong). I didn't realize while playing multi-player co-op that the thing had a machine gun, so I was anxious to try it out in single player mode.

The machine gun's a bit disappointing, but what bothered me was that my controller started vibrating like it was going to fall apart. After that, even the assualt rifle vibration seemed a bit noisy.

Anyone else experienced this? I'm worried that the controller may be going bad already.

I have a brand new controller still in the packaging (the one I received after returning the S Controller). I guess I'll open it and see if it's doing it too.

I have a controller that will vibrate for no apparent reason and it won't stop until you unplug it and plug it back in. I've been too lazy to return it.

I never had that problem. When you fire the machine gun your controller does rumble though.

My S controller has started making a strange noise when it vibrates and the vibration feels wrong. Kind of like the motor is going out or something. I may return it soon and get another one. The regular contoller doesn't do this.

It only happens when I'm firing the machine gun, it's not vibrating for no reason, it just seems loud and a bit rougher than it should.
