snes deleting saved games

Hi, had anyone ever had the problem of their snes deleting saved games? Do you think its the system or the cartridge? This just happened to me in zelda for snes which is a bitch to start over. I was playing, went to save and quit, then shut off the snes, when I started it back up today, all the saved games were gone not just mine all of em. has anyone ever heard of this problem or know any way to prevent or stop this? let me know, thanks

James

I know all the old SNES games that have saving capabilities have batteries in them. Eventually those batteries run out and the save capability no longer works. That what it might be.

The saves on your cartridges are powered by battery. Sounds like your battery ran out. Unfortunately, you are SOL when this happens on older games.

Cartridge battery. This happened to a friend of mine.

There's actually a way to fix them, I've seen it mentioned in a few gaming magazines before. You need a special sized bit to get into the cartridge but once you're in you just change the battery and you're set.

Edit: I just found this I'm sure there's others that tell you what to do but this is the first that google found.

So, it is a cartridge problem and not the system then eh?
