Xbox demo disc: video pauses?

I bought the latest 'Official Xbox Magazine' this weekend to check out the demos, and I noticed something weird:

Whenever a video is being played back, there are occasional pauses (both sound and picture). I noticed it during the intro to DOA3, but when I played it later, it made it through that intro with no problem. Other clips on the disc seem to do it at different intervals.

I haven't noticed any problems with the cut scenes in Halo, but I don't have anything else to try.

Should I be concerned?

No, happens to me.

I believe it is the "quality" of the mastered disc

Best thing to do with these is clean them well before using. I had one demo disc that would play everything except the demo for Inside Drive. I cleaned it (twice) & now I have no problem playing it.

They can come pretty dirty from the factory and as someone mentioned above, the quality of the disc is pretty poor (read cheap). But I must say that I have not had any problems playing anything on them after cleaning them though I do occasionally get the disc dirty error from time to time.

As long as 'real' games work, then it doesn't bother me too much. I'll try cleaning the disc and trying to replicate the problem.

Don't feel bad, I've gotten 2 discs in a row that were bad (June & July) and yes they wouldn't play in other friends systems also.

Seems like they're rushing discs through production and let a few hundred get out before discovering a problem.

There's a site to report disc problems:

It could be the hard drive buffering the video. I have had this happen a few times on Halo. Nothing to worry about; it just gets annoying.

It's never happened on any other game, though. To me, anyways.

The last one I bought didn't even "boot up" properly and I've yet to try it out.

Most of them gave me some weird problem.
