Tomb Raider and Halo ranked higher than Super Mario 64 and the rest of the Nintendo classics? No way. :)

These lists all have to be taken with a grain of salt, but that was the worst top 50 I've ever seen. Half of those games have no business on a top 100 list much less 50.

Most "Top ??" Lists I usually disagree with, but find some common ground. This one however, is horrible.

Why all the PC? Let's face it, consoles and arcade were the shizznit for years before PC caught on, and consoles games still manage to please alongside PC. I love my PC, but never will any PC game dethrone my old NES and SNES favorites.

Zelda? Mario? Pac-Man? Any other Arcade game for that matter? Why all the hate for the best? How is it only the newest Mario and Zelda get a nod? As people mentioned, where's Galaga? Donkey Kong? Ice Cold Beer? (OK, that last one most people have never heard of).

Where is 'Wasteland' and 'Wings of Fury'?!?!?!?!?

Metal Gear Solid should be much, MUCH higher on the list. MGS was the game that probably sold more Playstations than any other barring Final Fantasy. No Resident Evil 2 either on the list.

Seems like there is a PC game bias with this list. Six of the top ten games are PC titles.

Yeah, where the heck is it. I must've played that game at least 1000 times, the goal was see how many times it could be solved with only one man.

Let me add another "Wow! What a bad list!"-post to the thread.

This list is just brutal. The author can't seem to make up his mind whether it's the most important top 50 or the best playing 50. The setup seems to indicate that it was supposed to be the top 50 in gameplay, but every time the top game in a genre is omitted, credibility evaporates.

Just three examples...

* Pac-man? Come on. Everybody knows Ms. Pac-man is the ultimate in maze/chase games.

* Space Invaders? Others have pointed out Galaga is #1 for the slide & shoot genre.

* Pong? Puhleeeeze! Yes, thank you, Pong. Videogames wouldn't be where they are without you. But anybody picking you over Virtua Tennis (1 or 2) is clinically insane.

By the way, more proof of insanity is X-Com all the way down at #35. That's a Top 10 entry in almost every other 'Best Game Ever' list ever assembled. And rightly so.

Yeah. The Sydney Morning Herald knows a thing or two about video games. Sheesh. What a moron.

Where's Legend of Zelda? Where's Link to the Past? Where's Super Mario Bros? Where's Super Mario Bros. 3? Where's Super Mario World? Where is Final Fantasy VI? Where is Chrono Trigger? Where is Grand Theft Auto 3? Where is Castlevania? Where is Resident Evil? Why Wipeout instead of F-Zero?

this is why I never pay any attention to lists. Anyone notice there is not one Sega game on that list. I mean come on out of the top 50 and all these years sega has been out they are saying they never made a top 50 game?

Okay, quit yer bitchin' and stop your itchin' (or something to that effect).

All gamers who are put out by the fact that their numero uno waste of time was not included on the list should head over to the new Vote on your top 100 Video Games of All Time and place your votes for the games you feel have been unfairly maligned through this list.

We hopefully acheive some kind of VGTalk consensus, or at least fuel flame wars for years to come.

Whoever pulled this list of their FPS lovin' a$$ needs to shove it right back up there.

Is there no love for final fantasy tactics. Despite the horrible ending it set the bar for what strategy/rpgs should be.

No list I ever see ever mentions "Out of this World", my all time favorite. Nor do I rarely see "Maniac Mansion" (which well deserves a remake or another sequel). Tecmo Super Bowl is the all time greatest sports game, I do agree with that.
