Matrix License NOT X-box exclusive
Just saw it in this weeks issue of www.gamecubeweekly.com:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inforgrams bought out the Matrix license right? Well because of that a version will ship to every system at the same time. Feel bad for Microsoft who paid out an undisclosed amount for a six month exclusive that was lost when Interplay sold the license. The game is set for release with the next movie, in May of 2003. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anything else on this? |

1. This is not news. Shiny's buyout was announced April 25th. The multiconsole Matrix announcment was May 20th.
2. Microsoft isn't losing a dime. Yes, they paid Shiny 5 million around March 27th 2001. But they will get it back since Shiny wasn't able to produce the game. It's all in the agreement: http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/da...46/dex1039.txt Anyway, I'm more excited about the Matrix MMORPG that was announced at E3. |
It was never going to be a pure exclusive, just for a certain amount of time plus a few extras. I think MS saw they game sucked and didn't really care, like Wreckless going to the PS2.
Who knows though? We'll see. One thing's for certain, Gamecubeweekly sucks for Xbox news. ;) |
SHINY screwed up? I've always thought they were kind of overrated, but I'm surprised they couldn't pull this off. THe Matrix mod for Max Payne is already a pretty cool little thing. The gameplay is pretty much locked down inthat one. It would really only take some level building and it could be a cool game.
