Originally posted by Nooski Let's keep this thread going, its great. This game has made purchasing an XBOX a must. If you go to your menu and highlight your current level, then press Y, you can see how far you are from leveling up. The same goes for increasing your skills. Does anyone know where Fargoth's hiding spot is? This is one of the first tasks you can take on. At Arielle's shop some one asks you to find Fargoth's hiding spot and he'll share the gold with you. I've moved on in the game but it bothers me that I was never able to find it. Some one had told me to go to the top of lighthouse and watch where he goes, but the bastard doesn't go anywhere. He just walks back and forth. Spoiler:

Originally posted by Drexl I don't know what the deal is. The WM near me didn't have it either, and it's not even listed on Best Buy's website. Circuit City has it, but I'm waiting until it goes on sale again. |
Originally posted by Scheherazade That's the beauty of Morrowind, it's very open-ended so you can do about anything you want. You can follow the storyline (the Blades bit) or go off on your own and do whatever you like. But that's also something that may scare people off. Without the linear gameplay most games have it's very possible to play for days and not do anything to "advance" the plot... but that's all up to the player. I hate having tons of different paths to take and having to wander around and figure out where to go or what to do next. Just not my cup of tea. |
Just out of curiousity what level are people at out there. I'm currently at level 3, its nice to see my encumberence increase 10 pts each time I level up. Does this continue?

Man, I guess I will have to check this game out. On xbox.ign.com , it was rated a 9.4 out of 10. I'm not usually much of an RPG guy, but this must be good.

Be warned!
Morrowind is not like Final Fantasy. It's more like Might & Magic, but with only one character, and a much bigger and more detailed world. |
I'm level 2. I'm a member of the Fighter's and Mage's Guild in Balmora. I have a bounty of 0 and a reputation of 1. I have committed no crimes yet. At least none that have been reported. ;)

Has anyone recovered the cube in Dwemer's cave. Its a task that a member of the fighter's guild asks you to complete. I went through the entire cave and could not find it. There are a number of broken machines that must do something. I jumped across a broken bridge and there was this large device that I did not what to do with but nothing else.
Stoolie, how'd you get a reputation of 1? I'm holding strong at 0. Anyone higher than a 1? What does a Nord have to do to get some god damn respect up in this mofo. |
PC version: Level 11, reputation 2 (I think). I don't think I did anything to raise my reputation other than completing some quests (mages' guild).
I haven't played in a couple of weeks. I got distracted by Halo and Hot Shots Golf 3. These posts are good, they make me want to play more. :) |

BigDave, thanks a lot. I found it, and now I'm playing every spare moment I can again. Just when I thought I had an out, it sucked me right back in.

Well I finally got the game. It's amazing how none of the big stores here have it yet. I found it at Gamestop in Mall of America. Played it for a couple hours, very cool so far. Murdered a few Dunmer's in their homes, not sure if that'll bite me in the ass later. I didn't get caught though. Still futzing around, completed the Fitzgar's Hiding Place quest.

What kind of gameplay is Morrowwind? Is it more like Final Fantasy, with the menu like fighting or is it more like Zelda with hand to hand combat? Probably a stupid question, but i would like to know.

Thanks joe. I read some reviews, with what everyone is saying about the game it sounds pretty good.

I have a question that I can't find an answer for anywhere else. On my stats page, my speed rating (51) is red text. It has not always been red and its the only stat that is red, but I can't figure out why. I don't think I'm diseased or anything. Any ideas?
|
That happens all the time. It seems to occur after battle or after I'm hit with a spell. Basically when something is red it is an indicator that the value is lower then it normally should be. Take a restore speed potion and it will get back to normal or simply rest.
You can also tell if its due to a disease or spell. You can tell what things are affecting you by the icons in the top left corner of the screen. If items are there go to the magic menu, under one of the top boxes there is a list of things currently affecting you. Go to them and hold down the Y button. This will describe what they are. |

I've been putting in a lot more hours lately with great results. I finally took out the "bad people" in the Council Club -- had to go to jail for one crime because the jerk wouldn't rise to the occasion. I'm also a "Very special friend" to a certain cute cat-girl. Very nice. Just about to finish looting the Arkngthand as well when the power went off last night.
A few questions now (spoilers). According to some informants Orvas Dren is Spoiler:
also slaves -- How can I hook up with the Twin Lamps? And will I ever get recognition for freeing the slaves in the smugglers camps (here and there -- ie. outside Seyda Neen and elsewhere, or in caldera, by talking to people -- do you meet up with them again ever??? Also, what would really happen if I got my fingers on the key and freed the plantation slaves? Any real ramifications? thanks. Things are going pretty well right now, but I think Fire-Eyes has ties to Dren as well (according to another Fighters Guild leader). I want to shut down the right people. Tuan Jim |
